New Beginnings
The first thing that hit me was the heat, for a second I feel I could melt, but no my body is still intact nothing dripping of. In fact I look the same as when they put me in the machine. I look at what’s covering my body and it seems to be a sheet of some sort, I need to get into something more practical but am completely naked under it. I can’t remember how I got out of the machine or even how I ended up where I am now.
Taking my eyes of myself I try to get my bearings. What year am I in the women seem to be wearing masculine garments. When did that happen? I don’t see any horses and carriages either, everything moving seems to have wheels including the people. A young man whistles at me as he whizzes past on wheels of course, he turns and informs me that Halloween is not for a few months yet. Do I look like a monster or witch like since he’s brought up Halloween, no he doesn’t look scared and it’s a sarcastic smirk on his face not a scream, of course it’s the sheet. I must be as pale as it though, in fact I’m feeling dizzy, I need something to eat, fast.
I call after the young man and he comes back at more speed than I’m used to and increases my dizziness tenfold. I fall to the ground and he picks me up, wrapping the sheet tighter around me.
“I didn’t mean to upset you. I was just taking the piss, I thought you were part of rag week or something.”
“I don’t know what that is sorry. I don’t suppose I could trouble you for some clothes and food. I will work to pay back anything I owe.”
“Don’t worry about that. I can stretch to a big mac and coke for now. After you’ve eaten I’ll bring you home, my mum is always picking up strays, there usually not human, I’ll admit but she’ll only be too happy to help.”
I smile, the biggest of smiles to show my gratitude and hope it hides the fact that I haven’t a clue what a big mac is.
He calls one of his friends over and asks can he borrow the coat he has in a bag on his bike to spare my blushes he explains. His friend points out that I’ve nothing on my feet either. He hands over paper and says “run into the charity shop and get a pair of trainers for her will you. She looks about a five but get a six too big is better than to small. See ya in Macs. I need to get some food in her before she faints on me again.”
He takes it and speeds of on his wheels.
We get to some place that’s all lit up and happy faces are stuffing their faces inside. I’m now ravenous but staff won’t let me in barefoot. We are literally shoved out the door when a pair of trainers, I think that’s what they caled them, are given to me. I’m too dizzy to bend and put them on but my new saviours do it for me. We go back into the shop and sit down. The two lads go up to the counter and order food.
I have mine finished while there still unwrapping theirs so they half each others portion and give it to me as well. I gulp that down as well, delicious. I feel much better and a lot of my memories return and somehow I just know that I won’t be telling anybody that I got out of a dreary confinement in prison by allowing myself to be frozen for scientific purposes. Whatever happened I had more of a chance of survival than my dear spouse had when I fed him the ground up poison. I have a second chance of life and this time around I’m going to try and behave. I think I’ll tell them I ran quickly from a abusive situation with nothing but the sheet on my back they don’t need to know that was over 50 years ago, do they?
Mine
It takes you a moment to realise it’s me your loving boyfriend. I’ve followed you for a long time now and you’ve never noticed, silly cow. You dress up only for him when you used to fulfil my every whim.
I can’t wait to reef your hair to scare away that lustful stare because you always were and always will be mine you’ll once again drink from my shrine. I’ll enjoy your every gulp of my pumpkin, while I beat you to a pulp.
No one will want you then my dear, of that I have no fear, always mine.
