You can't ignore death.
It always creeps up in real life, catching up to you at some points, losing you, and when it finally does grab you, well, you are dead.
In stories and in poems... You can't just pretend that nobody is going to die in books.
It just does not work that way.
You are going to have to kill one of your characters at one point, unless you write for young children. It makes your story more heart-wrenching, if you like the character, and if you dislike the character, victory for you.
Death makes people cry.
I like making my readers cry. I like tearing their hearts out. I enjoy thinking about watching them weep about a lost character.
When you cry over a book, it makes it more memorable, instead of reading one with no deaths and violence and stuff. Just happiness. Sure, you'd prefer your line to be that way, but it just does not work. You want to believe in your characters, in your story.
See what I mean?
Death is always here. Even in books.
Death
Death is the great unknown and the great leveller. Death knows no rank or title and treats everything that it touches as equal.
There is no compromise with Death, there are no bargains to be made nor secret dealings, Death is forever unapproachable, untouchable and incorruptible.
Death is absolute, and no rumours of his approach are hinted at.
We all know that at the appointed hour we have that dreaded appointment that cannot be rescheduled.
When he calls, that my friends is it.
He is the Biggest of them all.
Slight rant- Death is real and it’s crushing
Because death is apart of everyone's life and it is real. Something people can relate to. So many people want to turn their heads away, and while it is terrifying everyone goes throw it in some shape or form. We don't always notice death when we're not experiencing it but when we are it seems to suffocate us. Taking away our breath as it took away theirs. Writing can help with the grieving process so I ask you don't rush it or get upset because it is rocking your boat of happiness. When someone you love is dying or dead you will want others to be patient and allow you to grieve. Allow us the same courtesy.
Death is?
What is the ultimate mystery in life? Death. It's the scariest thing since there are no clues as to what happens after death happens. Reincarnation? Endless nothingness? Heaven or Hell? Who knows, so death is a tantalizing subject since it's open to interpretation and fantasy. Death is a fact of life, and many do not know how to cope with it, so they write about to convey their feelings or confusion.
Personally
I write about it because all things in life come to an end. It's certain and inevitable and there are many views on it. I've experienced many deaths in my life and am sure I'll experience plenty more. I don't deal with loss well so I write in hopes that I will get some comfort expressing myself.
Dull
May be a bit dark, may be a bit sad,
And believe me, it makes me feel quite a bit bad,
But when the officer told me the crash killed my dad,
My heart didn't register what my brain had.
I never did cry and I never felt down,
As the coffin was buried, I uttered no sound,
As the others all struggled in tears, as they drowned,
I was happy, at peace with his split-open crown.
I never quite got my emotions in full--
I've always been monotone, always a bit dull--
But I'm gaining it back now, and happy am I,
But now I have to dry these tears I didn't cry.
Fear
Death is something everyone is afraid of. It's the unknown. For centuries different cultures have come up with stories to explain it. If you explain it, it becomes less terrifying. Some religious groups make up moral expectations to get to a better place. In reality they just want you to reform to their own ideals.
