First,
a small, hard kernel
taking up space.
Then...
A sudden opening,
unfolding like a flower
in an instant.
Lighter than air.
Pop. Pop. Pop.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
steam crackles from the pot
tear gas cries from the street
the smell of burning wafting from it
smell of death littering the air
it's burnt
and maybe it deserves to be burnt
I don’t want
to grab too many
because
I don’t want my friend
to think I’m that guy
but
this
is
good
shit
and I want more.
thank you
for coming—
to my ted talk.
i am like popcorn.
i hid inside
a shell,
hard and
inpenatrable.
lost in a crowd
of others
like me.
then, i was
thrown into
an eviroment,
dripping with
heat and
anticipation.
i didn't
last long.
i exploded.
My dad the musician made popcorn after every show.
Me the little kid stole pieces when he wasn't looking.
My dad the old man lives on the other side of the world.
Me the adult misses Papa with each pop.
the smallest kernel
every talent in the world
in fire... shall explode

Write a short poem about popcorn challenge @Isabellamb
the heat is so intense
it boils the little droplets of moisture i have in me
the pressure continuiously builds
and builds
until i eventually
pop
Poppity pop
poppity pop!
When will it stop?
Explosions of corn
Ears all torn
Sadly mis-shapen -
How did this happen?
Corn is for popping,
while candy's for flossing.
Salty or sweet
Fairground/cinema treat.
One of the few things that can be eaten both salty or sweet, but still taste good.
Snap crackle pop;
Pop crackle snap.
Crackle pop snap;
Snap pop crackle.
Crackle snap pop;
Pop snap crackle.
Oh dear I have put milk on my popcorn;
Rice Krispies in my microwave.
