The Science of Madness
Pasteur looked on at his pet. How he had loved playing with it from dusk till dawn. He smiled as he wiped the trickles of tears emerging from his lacrimal glands.
Pasteur felt a wave of anger rush in his veins. Why would someone harm his beloved close friend?
He did not understand why there had to be evil in the world. Could there not be at least a place that was only filled with good?
He proceeded to wash his hands for twenty seconds like he had learned during the first training in the health and sciences department. Pasteur wiped his hands and tossed the wet towels into the trash can. Then he used one of the dry ones to turn off the running water. He stood for a moment watching the mix of blood & water swirling around in the sink right before it went down the drain.
Pasteur briskly moved to grab a pair of nitrile gloves. He was ready to finally continue working on his latest experiment.
He grabbed a pair of medical tongs from a silver tray that he’d laid by the side of his newest project. Pasteur plunged the tool into the chest of his pet, and pulled out what looked like a lychee. He used both of his hands to tear the lychee like organ open.
His eyes looked on in wonder at the center/core of the lychee. Inside of the organ, Pasteur spotted a sac of seeds. He had not been sure if this was going to work, but now that he had made sure to increase the room temperature there was some progress in his work.
He raised his arms, while still holding the lychee in his palms. Pasteur burst out laughing. Maybe this would actually work.
He rushed to grab a few more items from the shelf. Using a range of techniques—which he’d learned from the great works of Bassi, Biot, & Sidney-Pasteur- Pasteur focused to light the path to bring a spark of new found life for his beloved pet.
Lightning flashed across the dark & starless night sky. Pasteur paid no mind to the sign of a big storm approaching. He continued on with his work.
After several hours of immense concentration, Pasteur noticed that the chest cavity of his pet was now covered by spores. This he deduced could be exactly what would bring about a breakthrough in his latest experiment.
He thought the spores could be the key to unlock the mystery to unravel how to bring his pet back to life. As soon as he laid his nitrile gloved hands on the spores, his whole body felt a shock like a wave of electricity through his body.
Pasteur soon lost control of his locomotion, and central nervous system. He felt lightheaded, and right before his body hit the ground~ he witnessed his pet rise from the examining table. It leaped from the examination table onto the floor.
He could sense tears collecting in his lacrimal glands. But they did not form a trail at this time instead they crystallized in the same manner as the rest of his body.

Dream
"Daddy, what if it doesn't work?" Charlotte stood in the teleporter as Derek attached the wire to her head.
"I've been a scientist for decades, honey. I know what I'm doing."
She brushed her blond hair out of her face. "Well, I've chewed food every day for six years, but I still bite my tongue sometimes."
That made him freeze. What if something bad did happen? This had never been done before. Never on a living creature.
Nonsense. He had chased his whole life for this. He had built his whole life on this. All the people the told him he was crazy; all the people who said he was too intense; all the people who said he didn't know when to stop: he would prove them wrong. He wasn't going to chicken out now. Charlotte would be perfectly safe. He had tested with other objects before, too. They had all come back in tact.
Derek flicked the power button and smiled. "You'll be just fine. Get ready to go to this spot, thirty years ago!"
The machine shuddered as the engine turned on. Charlotte's frown turned into a grin. "Okay, Daddy. I trust you, and you wouldn't let anything happen to me."
He pushed the button, and she was gone.
Three...two...one...
Derek pushed the second button, the one to pull her back into the present. For some reason, he was nervous. He had done this countless times with inanimate objects, why should this be any different?
And then she appeared in the teleporter.
For a second, he thought everything was okay. Until she collapsed onto the cold floor.
"Charlotte?" He knelt down and detached the wire. "Are you okay?"
Her eyes were blank.
His heartbeat quickened. "Charlotte?" He felt for her pulse, but there was none. Instantly, he started CPR. But it was no use.
After nearly thirty minutes, Derek gave up. He examined her, but nothing seemed to be wrong. She hadn't been harmed in the slightest. And yet, there she was—dead.
And then it occured to him. The electric shock that sent her through the fourth demensioin and into the past must have stopped her heart. Of course it wouldn't appear to harm an object—it wouldn't have a heart to stop.
Derek stood up. He wouldn't quit now. Not after his entire life's research was for this. He had to achieve time travel, no matter what it wook. He would fix the machine. It should be easy. He would dial down the electricity, and then try again with someone else. Perhaps it was good he tried it with his daughter first—her young, fragile heart was more seceptible to the shock, and trying it on his wife might have made the danger go unnoticed. Mistakes made you learn better, after all.
He grinned. Nothing would stop him from achieving his dream.
Cloning tragedy
Jason was impaled on the fire spear of the spacewitch Zazoo, he fell through the atmosphere, burning. we gasped in pain and terror as we saw the tragedy enfold. his red suit had some traces, i swabbed it, did all the steps, got a viable embryo.
Aisha, the yellow ranger defeated the evil dragon F'trogg, while the diminshed team fought the witch again. Aisha came close, to finish off the beast, when in a spasm of its tail, it tore through her suit. how that was possible, i shall never know, the deflection magic did not work well enough, is what i guess. a tiny scratch was all it took. micrograms of venom more powerful than ever, spread through her heart, stopping it. this time we at least had a body to bury. i took a sample of blood.
R.J, the purple ranger lost control of his dino, on a simple training exercise, his neck was broken as he was thrown at four times the speed of sound straight into a granite cliffside. again, i collected samples.
when mount. Katitka erupted, Tommy, the green power ranger, tried his best to launch the soectral sheild. alas, the fire gnome of the mountain was too strong. he used his braclet communicator to radio mission control of plan B, to run through the eruption with the antimatter disruptor. it was a suicidal. he died for nothing. all the fire gnome wanted, we found, was the stone of Merf, which was rightfully his to begin with. he, the gnome i mean, was kind enough to bring back what was left of the body. i collcted another sample.
i took the samples to the nuclear shelter. i sourced the materials, and grew embryos, for the rest. the jason embryo was progressing well.
they grew in the vats, and i hoped that it would somehow make up for all that happened. the deformations, where the umbilical attached to their scalp was something i accepted. i told myself, that they if they will grow better, then it's a small price. it was soon was apparent that they had severe problems with immune response. we enclosed them in the bunker, and turned the main assembly hall into a garden. they liked the smiling baby-sun as it rose over the astroturf meadow. they jumped and played, but did not develop mentally. Tinkywinky and LaLa seemed to be more assertive. i expected that Dipsy or Po (R.Js and Jason's clones, respectively) could advance to morphin level, but it would not be so. they grew in size, and hostility to outsiders. their fur bristling ferrally at any approach by the technicians. they grre even bigger, finally reaching the full dino size, and blasted their way through the containment facility.
luckily they quickly succumbed to the airborne vectors released by the Zazoo, who changed sides and now worked in alliance with us, 'gainst the space directorate. she helped putting them down, with minimal loss of life. and i vowed then to never clone again!!
Tesla’s Monster
"I did it, Artificial life!" 35-Year-old Nikola Tesla said to himself looking at George Scherff (His trusted assistant). " Is it alive?" George asked. " It's more than alive, It's the new step in Human evolution! With this thing, Humans will be able to live forever!" "Doctor, do you believe that god himself would accept this as a vessel for a soul?" " I won't need permission from your God, I am the only Divinity that this planet needs, I am the father of the new world."
Just as George was going to speak, the newborn being began to wake up. " It's waking up George!" " Doctor this is going to end terribly." George said with great worry. " Preposterous George, It's Alive, It's... Alive. I brought back the dead using recently deceased bodies and electrical currents." " My God, Dr.Tesla You created Frankenstein's Monster!" " Frankenstein was a fool to look at his creation with horror when he should have realized he created a way for life to continue even after our initial expiration date." "Did you ever read The Modern Prometheus?" "I did and as I stated, Victor Frankenstein was a fool to be surprised by his creation, He feared what he created while his creation wanted to be loved, it never felt love besides what it created in its head, watching over a family of farmers, up until one day by an unfortunate set of events, He is assaulted and forced to go away. The monster went back to following Victor in the shadows, until at some point years later after multiple physical interactions, In the end, Victor died due to Pneumonia and the monster committed suicide because his creator died. That is not going to happen with us." Tesla says Maniacally.
" The Monster should not have been created! It's not a plague however it's not a cure either. The Monster was created with a burden, The burden of not living for itself. why put such a curse, that we as humans have?" With that said the monster attempted to speak. " Where am I, Where's my Platoon?" " General Humphrey, my deepest condolences to you and your troops, and I thank you and them for their service, I gave you life again, I resurrected you from the mindless void you were occupying, you are the first Evolved Human. You are better than a regular man, You are perfect!"
"I want to go back to sleep, I do not wish to be part of a Mad Scientist experiment. All life was created to live and die, I do not wish to live past my death. Please send me back to sleep, I beg of you!" General Humphrey said weeping to Nikola. " I cannot General; I'm going to make you a worldwide hero, People centuries from now will thank you, you will be admired, and you will be the savior of Humanity! Why would you not want to be a part of this?
"Do you know of your own mistake by resurrecting me? You are a man with godly Intellect but that's just it, you are just a man, you were given a gift and what do you do with this gift? You do not realize the set of events you have crafted for a perfect recipe for disaster. Do you think God created life to serve him or is it possible that God created life for just that, for Life? Do you believe in experimenting on me to create more of Me will help with Man's weaknesses?"
" I believe invention is the most important product of man's creative brain. The ultimate purpose is the complete mastery of the mind over the material world, the harnessing of human nature to human needs. That's what I'm doing here today and that's what I plan for the future, and that's what I believe." " How can a decaying present start the rise of a pristine future?" George questioned Tesla's intent. "Simple. The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine."
" I do not wish to be a part of your future; I do not belong here now in the present as I stand now. I wish to return back into the soil and let myself decay." The General said as he grabbed a nearby scalpel and flipped it around facing his gut. " God and Man would agree that Everlasting life is not a life of true living. Thank you for giving me a second chance of life Dr. Tesla but this is not life, this is Hell." The General cried out before he stabbed himself in the gut.
" NO, NO, NO. George help me patch him up." " NO, respect the dead and respect his wishes." George said fed up with Tesla " How can you just stand there and let the chance of a perfect future quite literally bleed out?" Tesla cries out with watery eyes. " The General calls out to Tesla with his last breath, " Doctor, you have a gift; Let your gift be the presence of a future." George and Tesla sit in silence staring at the general's body then all of a sudden, Tesla stood up and said
"You were right."
(NOTE TO READER: I used actual Tesla quotes in the story.)
