Scombroid Paradise
You called yourself captain.
You dreamt of a New Land, Vast riches, and Fame,
and we swam alongside your vessel for ten thousand miles.
Promises were broken.
Delayed gratification
never rectified.
Eggs placed in the basket
decayed the fruit,
so, you served up fish instead.
and I ate it all.
Some are still eating.
Now I’m sick to my stomach
treading an uncharted sea
wondering if I’ll find land before you do
or before I die.
either way, I’m swimming North.

X Marks the Spot
I think I have been dropped
in the swamp
of eternity's waste;
a cesspool of Earth's discarded atrocities.
Oh, whatever have I done, Lord?!
However can I make this right?!
Do not punish me for the sins forced upon my eyes.
I was genuine in my nurturing and kindness,
in forgiveness,
in faith.
I only offered up all of myself
to ease just a little bit of humanity's pain.
I am only the carrier of burden, sir.
A generational curse swaddled me in the womb and
nearly strangled me
as I took Nature's first breath.
And I have been fighting to survive ever since.
