Torn
If given a choice i would definitely answer physical book in a heart beat. The feeling of having a physical book is incomparable to using your Kindle or Tablet. The smell, as you turn the pages. You can see how far long you have read and how many chapters are left. BUT i do like the electronic version too specially if i'm going out. You can't really bring like, 10 books if you're travelling right? And as for me, not all the books that i like are readily available in my country so i have to buy the electronic version. (Yeah sucks right?) The downside on electronic ones is that, if your electronic devices' battery gets low/empty and it will damage your eyes more compared to reading a physical one (though it could also damaged your eyes too not just as much) and excess usage of electronic devices has its side effects (brain and such)
Sooo
i'm torn. There are pros and cons but if i need to choose only one i would always answer the physical book.
:)
I used to be greedy with my physical books. love everything from the smell , to the physical shape that holds the memory of where it came from to the colorful bookmarks I would hand pick. But Alas those days are over for me.. The large font wins. I can read and after all that is what is most important.
Reading
Years ago, before iPhones and tablets were even thought of, books were the required modus should reading be your thing.
Newspapers could be read also of course, and I've read a few newspapers over the years. But, if you wanted a serious read then it had to come in the form of a book and then in either hardback or paperback form.
Once smartphones and tablets became the inevitable fashion accessory then our beloved print followed and these days any great novel can be obtained on your gadget with just a simple tap.
But, the question is which do I prefer, book or gadget?
Well, before my eyesight started to fade it was always a book for me. But, now that my eyesight has deteriorated badly, it must be via my trusty gadget.
I find the illuminated print easier to read in a gadget, and should my eyes become irradiated to the point that I get a headache then I simply dim the brightness.
So there you have it. Gadgets for my reading enjoyment, always.
iSad
It's not even close. The smell, feel and experience of reading and rereading a book is above and beyond the virtual alternative.
Dog ears and notes in the margins.. Returning again and again to yellowed warm pulped universes. Handing it down to generations or lending a favourite novel go friends. It's magic in my hands.
Then there is the iWorld.. Glass screens that never change while the words are flicked sideways by an overactive thumb..
IMHO kindle etc heralds the downfall of not only libraries but our society as a whole..
Book lover
I like to hold you in my and and caress every page through my fingers. I wanna smell the ink on you. While I hold on to this imaginary world it helps me to escape this one. While an electronic book is swipe capable I prefer to actually move my arm to turn pages. I like to feel my book in my hands
I find I get too distracted with other apps or news on an electronic version. The point and joy of reading is to get engrossed in the content and to avoid such distractions. There are types of literature id prefer electronically and such works would be professional papers. The notes I make and the physical paper stays in tact and easily saved for the future.
Physical
I prefer reading physical books because I am really fascinated and happy whenever I experience the moment of actually holding a book in my hands. Just holding it makes me happy. Plus, my teachers would be okay letting me read a physical book in class instead of an electronic one. Although, I admit that I read more books electronically than physically.
Paper
A physical book is what I prefer reading from.
I enjoy the feel of the paper when I finish a page,
I don't have to plug in a book to have it charge
for hours and hours.
I love the smell of new books, old books, worn out books.
Books aren't meant to be in the electronic version.
It wouldn't be called a book if it wasn't written on paper.
Physical or Electronic Book Version
A physical version of a book. I prefer to turning pages to sliding my finger across a phone, tablet, or kindle. Plus, if you lose a physical book, it is easier to replace, and you only lose 1 book. If you lose an electronic book, it is harder to replace, and you lose books.
I prefer....
Reading from a book. I love feeling the pages between my fingers and the spark of joy on the inside about what will happen next. I am a big reader, so I will practically read anything that's given to me.
I also think it educates you.
Doing anything on electronics can give you headaches and put you in a bad mood.
GO BOOKS!!!!!!!!
