A Lovers Lie - A Sonnet
Golden leaves dance gracefully
In gentle silver breeze.
The whispers in the trees
Sing like sailors' songs at sea.
And there, beneath the twinkling star
You danced like silver dew
Then, in my heart I knew
That twilight lovers never scar.
The precious dream you left behind,
I loved with all that's true
Like every lover loves their lie.
And every moment floating by
My broken heart loved you
Like mountain Latmos loved the sky.
Sonnet
This water bearer, this Aquarian girl,
Seemed quite angelic, virtuous, yes pure.
But that was just the surface and underneath lied more.
Outrageous, the heat in this mammalian whorl.
Taking my hand, she led me to her world.
With great manipulation and care she would procure,
Exactly what she seeked, proving her splendor as an entrepreneur.
Prevarication slipping off her tongue, "let's let our love unfurl".
But none of that does matter.
I needed that release.
Still, I barely caught my breath
Enough to say, "Oh Beth",
"Je ne l'oublierai jamais notre temps en Suisse",
"Where you brought me to my little death".
Groom
Melinda was born in May
All who came brought a gift
Even I came on the fifth
with the shoulder of a manta ray
It was such a lovely day
Paparazzi, even in the lift
Pranksters shoveling their cards, so swift
Caught unaware, no words to say
Suddenly, silence ceased the room
Its like an angel descended from above
My haughty shoulder became a broom
Pranksters cards gradually dissolve
Photographers frustrated, camera's wouldn't zoom
I had no gift to offer, nothing but love
Lost Beasts of the Bahariya Oasis
Egypt 95 million years ago
Long before the pyramids were built
Laid a marshy land of water and silt
Marching through the muck so slow
A herd of Paralititans with their necks hang low
They keep moving to hide away their guilt
Of leaving their own behind with knowledge of blood spilt
By carnivorous Carcharodontosaurs who satisfy their hunger without care and woe
Nearby the legendary Spinosaurus plops into the water like duck
The cool water feeling refreshing to this aquatic beast
With the hopes that with some luck
It can have a fishy breakfast feast
Meanwhile in the skies the pterosaurs Alanqa squawk and cluck
As they make their migration back home east
