Basic maintenance
I rolled into the shop
Looking for repairs
They say I got a bum brain
Something wrong, mentally
Mechanic says he's
Working on it
May take some time
Before it'll run
Like the good ol' days
Says I need to lay off
The alcohol
Otherwise I'm liable
To make it worse
So I'm working on it
Testing the waters
Until she runs
Nice and smooth again
You cannot fix the past
In that moment my watch stopped working
Time stood still
I never realised as in that very second I was blinded by grief
For years I allowed it to eat away at me
It became a parasite sitting on my shoulder
Draining me of life of optimism of feeling anything good
Then I searched for a weapon to kill the monster
That weapon was Buddhism
In time I learnt that living in the past holds you back
Holding on to things that hurt you continue to wound
So I let it go and I became lighter as I let go of my grief
The monster the parasite fell off as there was nothing left to feed on
Now I can stand strong and say YES it happened but I cannot change that it did
Grief was my nemeses my downfall for so long
Words in the shape of prose and poem took it down
Words of wisdom of sense slaying everything majestically
Now there´s nothing which I cannot fight against and win
For I am a survivor resilient to all that life throws my way
The past is the past
Now is now
The future I cannot see
Nothing is forever
Everything is fleeting
So I pride myself on just living in the moment
Being the best that I can
For I know I am great
I have the knowledge I have the weapons
Armed with these I can endure anything
