Colorblind
we like to make the statement
I am color blind
I don't see color
I don't see boundaries
I don't acknowledge race
that is the problem
by ignoring race
we ignore racism
we ignore the dividers we have in society
we ignore the walls we built
we ignore the poison seeping through our veins
we think just because we say
I have black friends
or Mexican
or white
or Asian
we are not racist
race is not to be treated as some type of green card
we need to acknowledge that
there is race
and everyone is different
but by ignoring race
we ignore their problems
we ignore their fight and their struggles
we sew racism in the same thread of race
when we make the statement I am colorblind
colorblind to what
the innocent bystanders from the holocaust were colorblind
and didn't understand why the jews were getting killed
they summed it to they were just a bunch of unlucky people no
they were just in the majority the majority fails to recognize the minority
because they do not experience the full affects of what it means to be an outcast
they are rarely the elephant in the room
by blurring the lines of race
we ignore culture
we ignore people
we ignore the origin
no, we merge them onto the copier
and reproduce a carbon copy of who they were
by making fashions magazine that promote racial assimilation
not diversity
My afro is my pride
so please respect
that I am black
I am not going to hide my skin
I am proud of black veins
that make me who I am
you can choose not to see it
but I will just keep putting it in your face
I AM BLACK
AND YES BABY I AM BACK
oh you didn't notice really
because you're colorblind
cut the crap
by failing to acknowledge difference we fail to create change
