Take Flight
Pausing, take a breath
Deep into lungs
Aching with love,
Knuckles wrap the door,
Hummingbird, fluttering heart
Soaring up, away
Out of sight, lost
Daring to say
My heart, ever yours
True Story
I was told to write a poem,
"Only nine lines long, is it to be",
That was the decree I received.
Sigh as I might, I have things to do,
"Kitchen the clean too, need I!"
Cry in vain I do,
For no one cares that dishes pile high!
With saddened heart, I finish my write,
Now to the dishes, they give me a fright!
Backwards?
Forward is the norm for me
Not Blindly- but that I might see
This challenge, I wish I understood
That would help this write be good
But backwards is the test you see
So backward is what it must be
For PhynneBelle's requested poetry
Finally! The end to this
But it was one I could not miss!
Comprehend
I threw out logic long ago
And replaced it with words plentiful
Who said I needed logic
I have never heard such a thing
Comprehending comprehend can't I
I don't even know what I'm saying
I try to ignore words now
Logic makes everything confusing
And I would rather not have that.
Juxtapose(d)
I will love you
all the days of my life,
a life laced with ardor.
Couldn't have dreamt
would I That
never have had such nightmares,
nightmares of smothering terror.
All the years of my life
I have hated you.
Hunting season
I hear gunshots from a distance
My wings beat faster
Escaping danger, remembering pain
Faster, my head screams!
Flight in fear
There are calls up ahead
Then another bang
Blood clouds my vision
Disjointed, I fall.
Oops
Resolutions faltered
This mid-February
Try as I might
(Ok, I don't try that hard)
Pizza eating, stop gotta I
What I mean
Is simply this
I gotta stop eating
Pizza
MY Canine!
My pooch, my pooch,
that li'l mooch,
always stealin' socks,
out the bin, out the box.
Cute too is Dahlia,
so I really can't stay mad,
not matter when she's bad.
She's my best furry friend,
from now until the end.
Backwards
They told me to write,
The first thing that came to mind,
Forwards,
Now write it backwards,
Backwards,
Now write it backwards,
Forwards,
The first thing that came to mind,
They told me to write
It’s Terribly Dull
I drive to school,
I bike to work,
I walk to bed,
And I do it again,
Dull terribly it's,
A repetition,
Of a hasty question,
Asked by a small rounded world,
With an abstract answer.
