Meditation
I hear the whispers from the sky
spores floating on winds of change
hems of oceans unraveled in foam
silver sprinkle of murmured breezes
I hear the whispers from the sky
gentle sweetness on lips like wine
peaceful silver waves in aqua sea
gulls swooping low to catch reflections
I hear the whispers from the sky
A thousand moons slipping into dawn
echoed seaweed strewn on carpeted sand
unhealed wounds washed clean by tides.
“Peace is” My Wife of 39 Years
The beautiful blue sky glowed behind the soft white clouds drifting aimlessly across the distance landscape. Shadows danced gracefully over the green restful plains, blending the gentle light of morning,— offering a reprieve of the darkness that follows all our lives. Sleep is how we hide from the depth of our trials when we are alone in our dreams, hiding from despair. But your love is the guiding light that awakens the spirit of hope within no matter the blackness of the night. My treasure shared as we walk through the glory of togetherness. Your soft green eyes,— like pools of emeralds, sparkling with life,— calm my weary soul when the anxieties are too hard to bear. The touch of your hand and caressing embrace,— your soft voice is the breeze that refreshes and brings tranquility, warmed in your arms. You are my peace in a life of pain,— the restful scenery of pleasure, offering life to the tired soul. You are my meaning in a reservoir of doubt, the dream I awaken to that is my reality. My sanctuary where I am never alone, because you are always with me; and peace is the blessing I have been granted because I’m yours.
What is Peace?
Peace is the calmness in the depths of your soul that wells up until all of you is consumed by this feeling, and it spills over onto other people.
Peace is feeling calm even in the worst of situations, with a steady assurance that God is there and watching out for you.
Peace is being wrapped up in a warm blanket by a window while storms are raging outside.
Peace is being loved and loving in return.
Last but not least, peace is peace.
What is peace?
What is peace?
Peace is a transition.
It's the calm before a storm, the in-between of endless wars, the still before the ripples, the silence before the noise, the moment when you're not sure if you're still dreaming.
Peace is relative, it's a comparison, a before and after picture.
It doesn't exist.
