Thank You.
"NO, STOP! PLEASE, GOD!"
"It's going to be ok James! I swear to you, it will all be ok!"
That was a lie. I knew that it was not going to be ok. These people took us for no reason, NONE. Now I am here, strapped to a table, alone in the darkness. There's only one window, with a shape of a cross, and it sits directly above my head. The only sound that was present was the constant screaming from James and the yelling of the others in the asylum. To think that today was such a good day until now. I was laying down by the lake, looking at the sky, and thinking about the times. Unfortunately, I am now here listening to people's screams.
Suddenly, four people walked into my room, all of them males. Three of them had pen and paper while the last was just staring at me methodically.
"Hello William. How do you feel?"
"How di I feel? You kidnaped me and my best friend for no reason!"
"Oh, but there is a reason."
"Well, what is this "reason?""
"We received troubling information from a few of Watts's residents."
"What information?"
"You know what you did, William."
"I don't! I was just minding my own business by the lake until you bastards came and took me away!"
The man wiped his forehead while letting out a deep breath. "Todd, go ahead and start the Shocker.
"What? No wait!"
But it was too late. The pain was bad, but the faces of the cold, stern men just looking at me with no expressions was the worst part. The pain was so unbearable that after they shut it off, I was beginning to weep a cataract down my face.
"Admit it."
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!"
"Again!"
"Wait, no please! AHHH!"
"ADMIT IT!"
"I didn't do anything, I swear to god!"
"Ha, funny. Again!"
They shocked me two more times before I passed out from the pain. when I woke, I was strapped tightly in a bed. This was the first of many nights that this would happen. I would scream for what felt like hours, then hear the screams of James and a few other patients for the rest of the night. I would go weeks without showering. I would often be forced to still be strapped to my bed even after I soiled it with my waste. At some point, I had had enough and decided to confess my crimes.
"So, you decided to finally admit your crimes?"
"Yes."
"Say it."
"I have laid in bed with another man."
"Who was this man?"
"His name is James. I've been hearing his screams and cries for months now. Is he ok?"
"Of course. He admitted his crimes a month ago. He's even been sent home."
A sadness slowly creeped through my body. I wondered why I wasn't told, I would of said something a long time ago, but instead I am here. I am suffering. And now I am alone.
"You will be able to shower and go outside the facility for a short period of time. I understand that it's been about a week since you've gotten a nice, hot shower."
The bastard, It had been two weeks since I've had a good shower. When the water hit my body, I felt a release of relief and happiness, one that can only be comparable to the feeling that many men feel when they hold their son or daughter for the first time. After the shower, one of the nurses took me outside where I could see the sky. It was the most beautiful sky that I have ever threw my eyes upon. I stood there for about five minutes until I was escorted back to my room. At this point, being strapped in my bed was my life now, it was all I knew. I laid in the quiet for about an hour until I heard a voice say, "William."
"Who was that? Where are you!?"
"It's James."
"James? My love?" I said while my voice cracked.
"It is me."
"I don't understand, where are you?"
"I'm so sorry, my love, but I am dead."
"No. I must be going insane. They told me that you were released a month ago!"
"Do you really believe anything that comes out of their mouths? There's no leaving here. They killed me William."
"I am so sorry. Please, take me with you, get me out of this hell."
"It's not your time yet, but I will get you out of here."
"Really? But when? How?
"No time to explain, the men that tortured us are on the way here right now. Just let us handle It."
"Us? But-"
"Good evening William."
"Good evening."
"Now, we got some things planned for you today. After we finish, you will be able to go home and see-" Before he could finish his sentence, his neck snapped off his head. The other men in the room screamed in terror, but before they could run for safety, all of their heads snapped off as well. I should of been horrified, yet I wasn't. I decided to rejoice In the deaths of these monsters.
"HAHAHA!" I yelled viscously.
"Go William. We will handle the rest."
As I walked through the asylum and out of that hell-hole, I realized something. I was wrong before, THIS is the most beautiful sky I have ever laid my eyes upon. All of the blood floated in the air and halted, forming the shape of a skull. Before I left, I looked back, one last time, and said, "Thank you, my love."
Race Against Time
"Penny, hurry. They are coming. They are here! Run!"
A week earlier
The little town of Workshop in California had a population of fifty. Everyone knew everyone. For Penny, she was a bit different. As she grew older, she began to notice this difference. Only certain people noticed her and she could do other speical things. Like freeze the lake and melt it or cause the weather to change. She kept it hidden and nobody knew. Everyone in this town drank water and ate at the local dinner. Everything was normal until construction strated and a month later and old victiorinan looking building popped up. A cemetry in the front and dark windows all around. Chilling sounds were heard all through the place. One day things changed.
"Ah Good morning." My arms went off, no school today. This was the day everyone went out and did the shopping for the week. I got up and poured myself a glass of water, but decided on orange juice instead. My parents got up, drank water and we went out to the market. Everyone was there and they were all drinking glasses of water. Evelin dropped while she was shopping for pineapples. Then more and more people went down. My parents dropped and I hid in the shed in the back. When I was a child and scarred, I would hide in here under the wheelbarrow. Out the window, I can see me in masks. Scarry men. Like out of a horror movie. They were dragging these people into vans. I heard one of the conversations between one of them and a man over the phone. He said their brains would be washed in a weeks time. Think. Did I drink water today? This morning I was brushing my teeth and I had a glass at three in the morning. . . I woke up and it was dark. They are all gone. I have a week to figure things out before I lose everything. The police department in the next town was only a few miles away, so I began to walk. In the morning, I can finally see it. Inside I tried to talk to the police officer, but her just ignored me and moved on to the person behind me. He cannot see me. Now I have to face this alone. It takes she hours to reach the asylum. Inside no one saw me. All my life no one ever saw me. Only my parents. They always said I needed to find the other half and be unified in order to be reaveled. Never knew what that meant. Everyone was here. Then, I saw a boy my age. Someone I have never seen before. Since no one could see me I walk up to him and say hello. He got a shocked expression on his face. He sees me.
Boy: How... How can you see me?
Penny: How can you see me?
Boy: No one in my life has ever seen me.
Penny: Me neither. I am Penny and you are?
Zeek: My name is Zeek.
Penny: Take my hand.
Zeek: Why?
Penny:Just do it.
Zeek: Okay.
*They hold hands*
Nurse: You two get back in your rooms.
Zeek: How?
Penny: My parents always said find your other half and unite to be reaveled.
Zeek: Amazing.
Penny: Are you going to help shut this place down and return these people back to normal?
Zeek: Sure, follow me.
He takes us to a rusty room with blood on the walls. He says this where they do the experiments. He goes on to tell me that we have four days to shut this down or everyone will loose their memory. Next, we see the warden's room.
Our plan is to sneek the serum reverse the memory washing into the water. Two problems. One, we have no idea where the water system is. Two, it is probably heavely guarded. We have four days and zero time to spare.
We assumed it would be in the basement because either was the closest to the ground. Down five stairwells is the basement. Like we said heavily guarded. Yes we cannot be seen but we can be felt. After a quick glance, there seems to be rooms. Torture rooms. We can both hear screams of pain. This was not as hard as we though. We high-fived and gave each other hugs. The guards noticed and Zeek noticed them.
"Penny, hurry. They are coming. They are here! Run!"
I ran but when I turned they had him and threw him into a cell. Over the radio I heard an unsettling message.
*They do exist. Two in the building. One caught and the other on the run. Keep a sharp eye.*
They know. I have to move more cautious. On the floor is a book. A newer by the looks. One page caught my attention.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rule 58: In case of fire
All cells will automatically unlock when the alarm is sound and sprinklers go off. Grab a patient and heard the the smaller building out back. Wait until you are told and then take them back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Across from me, I see the alarm and above me is the sprinklers. Now, I need fire. A rock or some metal. I try it and strike a spark. The sprinklers go off and I pull the alarm. All cells open and guards rush to people. Zeek is grinning and walking towards me. Everyone heads outside and we head to the room with the water. In there was the pipes and recipes for brainwashing and reversing brainwashing. We would need a cup of blood, a piece of melted silver, a lock of hair, and love. The last one made no sense. We continued anyway. We melted the sliver with a lighter and put it into a bowl. Zeek cut his hair and put it in. I slit my palm and measured some blood.
Zeek Point of View
The last ingredient is blood so Penny cut her palm and put it into the bowl. She cut too deep and the blood would not stop. Soon she was out and I took her hands and prayed. I gave her a slow kiss. A glowing light surrounded us and I put the mixture into the water. She came back, but really hazed. She told me that she can change the weather to rain, but she needs to be outside. So I pick her up and take her outside. They spot us and she says to go to the lake and jump. I did but we will both drown. At the lake the water freezes and we can walk on it. Behind us it melts.
Zeek: Wow. You have all sorts of secrets.
Penny: You have no clue.
In the middle, she tells me to put her down. I am not sure if she can stand or not because she is still bleeding. Like she is as white as a piece of paper. All of a sudden, it begins to rain hard. This whole time she knew that the patients eat at this time and with the meal they get a glass of water. The guards think the water still has the brainwashing mixture but we changed it. With the rain, they think it is okay so they go back in and eat. Soon the serum kicks in and the people fight back.
We cross the lake again. Taking each other's hand we walking inside. Everyone thanks us. Everyone can see us. It was true since me and Penny found each other and untied our hands in the basement, we are now reaveled to the people. This whole experience has now changed my life forever and gave me someone that I can love forever.
