Little Treasures
Animals,
True blessings in a harrowing world
They comfort, inspire, and help humans
When times are dire
Many are innocent,
Some even defenseless
Really, they just want to live their lives,
Growing and building families,
Exactly like humans do
Yet, those same humans
Pillage their homes,
Setting forests ablaze,
Showing the utmost cruelty
All of it an undeserved nightmare
As people, we must join together,
And protect these treasures of the earth
Stars of Heaven
I believe that when we die, we go to our own heavens
millions, thousands of them
one for each person - if we choose.
I believe that when we die, we get to have our own little star
and spend our days watching the ones below -
or not - whichever we choose.
I believe that whatever afterworld we imagine
they are all so real and so true
Because I guess the universe is big enough
to make room for everyone - if they please.
Because if heaven is a place of eternal bliss,
you can’t expect everyone there
to get along perfectly well
all jammed up in default-paradise.
Some might not want cotton candy as trees
some might be allergic to cats
some might want to live in the woods
and some might need wifi
and a charger for their phones
Some might want some peace and quiet
while some might want to play the piano
or even
an electric guitar.
It would be like a gigantic apartment
with a quadrillion inhabitants from all over the world,
quarreling and bickering and gossiping away
So I believe that when we die
we go to a place where we go when we sleep
to our own very personal star
somewhere in a corner of the universe
where all our dreams become real -
that is, of course, if we choose so.
I wish people were as passionate about regulating their government as they are regulating their neighbors
What is happening this very second?
Do you know?
Are your neighbors watching a channel you find offensive? Do they refuse to recycle? Might they play their music (not your type of music) a bit too loud for your tastes? What if they want to believe in God in a way you know is wrong? What if they want to speak to children about their beliefs? Should they be permitted to engage in any of these activities? Who is going to stop them? Will it be you? Will you advocate for an increased power to government to make this happen?
Is your government conducting a private war in a country you have never heard of? Do you know? What is the national debt at this very moment? Does your number include promises of social security payments to future generations? What is owed to welfare and Medicare recipients? Is this number increasing? How will it be paid? Is it ever going to be paid? Every time a government committee meets, what is the cost? Every time a congressman speaks, what is the cost? Can you calculate the cost per word? Did you even hear the words?
I am passionate about focusing my attention to limiting government. I am passionate about following the US Constitution and eliminating the deliberate expansion of government into areas not authorized by the US Constitution. I am passionate about awakening the populace to the bounty millions have died to provide instead of the pittance politicians and unelected bureaucrats dangle in front of us.
The United States needs to return to the limited form of government the founding fathers intended. The citizens of the United States need to understand their responsibilities, not just the benefits, in this limited form of government.
Government is not the solution! It is frequently the problem and (more than frequently) the origin of the problem.
Regulation does not come from government. Regulation must come from the people regulating government.
The Bill of Rights is the greatest example of governmental regulation.
The apathy of ignorant and slothful is the greatest example of regulation by government.
Apathy, ignorant, and slothful are found in the dictionary.
The word, "gullible" is not.
Utopian Visions
When you can see the Sun rise you are already there.
When your eyes are widened what you see is brilliant.
The reflection, the vision, the sight of what is within reach
To what tomorrow can become is something to each
When you need a drink, the river is ready for your thrist
When you are close to the ends, the waters are there to revive
Just as you can follow its course, yours in within reach.
To which your frution can be more relieved when you find your peace.
When you're able to stop upon reaching the city
When you're ready to continue, you must be vigilant.
So search for the next journey as you must find the next view
Search for the next step to find the next river
It is not out of reach, for you have already arrived
And the journey of a thousand steps are reason enough to confide.
