Chapter 8- Shivers In The Night
With the house being new to them, the kids found it hard to go to sleep after being tucked in by their parents. Scotty had a couple action figures and flashlight under the bed sheet with him while Penny was talking away to her stuffed bunny she named Snowy. Diane and Jack were downstairs on the couch watching TV while snuggling together under a blanket.
"You'll never rule the world while I'm around Joker!" said Scotty quietly still playing under the sheet. He heard footsteps coming up the stairs, so he quickly shut his flashlight off and laid down on his pillow pretending to sleep. The footsteps neared his bedroom door, and the doorknob squeaked as it slowly turned. He laid there still quiet and waited patiently. The door opened and he heard the footsteps coming closer, soft and slow towards his bed and then they stopped. He felt a hand brush through his hair, and he opened his eyes to see his mother standing over him. "What are you doing still awake sweetie? It's after 1:00 am." she said softly while continuing to brush his hair back with her fingers. "I'm just excited mommy. My new bedroom, our new house and everything; I just can't sleep." "You know, the faster you go to sleep the faster tomorrow will be here then you can play." "Okay mommy, I love you." "I love you too sweetheart. I'll see you in the morning." she said as she gave her son a hug and tucked him in. Diane went back downstairs to find her husband asleep on the couch with the TV still on. She sat next to him and watched some more TV since she wasn't ready for bed just yet. Scotty was just starting to doze off when he heard footsteps coming up the stairs again. He heard the doorknob jiggle and creep open. The footsteps neared his bed and stopped. He laid there too far dozed to roll over to see which parent was in his room this time. He then heard the steps move to the foot of his bed, pause and then heard his closet door open. He raised his head just in time to see his closet door shut. Scotty laid there frozen in his bed staring horrified at what he'd just seen. He then threw his blankets off of himself, ran out the door and down the stairs to his parents hysterically crying. "Scotty what's the matter?" she asked concerned, "You're trembling all over, what happened?!" "The man's in my room! It's true, the man Billy Thurman told me about is in my closet! I don't want to go back in there, please don't make me!" Scotty said with tears pouring down his face as he clenched tightly onto his mother. Jack woke up and rubbed his eyes, "What's wrong with him?" he asked confused. "He says he saw a man in his room." she answered calmly while rocking her son in her lap to try and calm him down. "A man? What man?" "You know the one he said a kid from school told him about that we talked about a few days ago?" "Oh yeah, that man." said Jack relieved. "Okay," he said while getting up from the couch, "dad will go take a look for you son. Give me your hand and we'll go together." Scotty slid off his mother's lap and grabbed tightly onto his father's hand. They walked up the stairs together with Diane following behind. Once they made it to the top, he watched his dad open the door and start to walk in. "No I don't want to go in!" Scotty cried out as he jerked his hand away. "Honey did you actually see a man in your room?" asked his mother softly. "No, but I did see the closet door shut by itself." Jack was still in the doorway and said, "If you want you can wait out here with mom while I go and check." "Okay daddy." He left the door open behind him so his son could see everything was okay. Scotty watched his dad check under the bed, the closet and everywhere else a "monster" could be lurking. "Oh, I see what happened! The draft from the window more than likely closed that door." said Jack as he was closing the window. "See honey, it was only the wind. Nothing to be scared of." she said assuringly. "Oh okay mommy, I feel better now thank you daddy." Scotty said as he hugged his dad. "I'm going to go check on Penny." said Diane and she walked down the hall to her daughter's room. Jack took his son in and kissed him on the four head. "Good night squirt, I love you." "Good night dad, I love you too."
As he watched his dad leave the room he began thinking about what had happened. Was he seeing things? Did it really happen? He thought and thought until he fell asleep. Jack and Diane were in their bedroom on the second floor getting ready for bed. "Poor Scotty, first night in our new home and he's already freaking out." she said. "Honey, let's be honest with ourselves, it's an old creepy house, of course it's going to freak out the kids sometime sooner or later." Jack sarcastically laughed. "He'll be fine, he just has to get used to the new surroundings." "Well, Penny seems to be doing well so far." Diane smiled. "Yep she is. The kids will be fine sweetie, now let's get some sleep." "Okay, I love you sweetheart, good night." "Good night, I love you too." said Jack as he held onto Diane.
Chapter 7- Moving In
Jack decided to go on and hire someone to come out and fix the house for them so they wouldn't have to. Ted still insisted he do all the electrical work for them since he felt more comfortable knowing he'd do the job right the first time, unlike some of those other electricians who cut corners. Jack borrowed Rhonda's dad's tractor to work on the land, and her dad offered to help as well whenever he wasn't busy with his hay business. It took a little over three months to get everything looking good and making it livable again. Everyone could hardly sleep a wink the night before from the excitement of their big day in the morning. They all finally one by one fell asleep and woke up ready to start their move into their new rebuilt, beautiful home.
Breakfast was served and the packing began, but luckily most of their stuff was already loaded on the trailer from last night. None of them except Ted had seen the inside of the house all finished since they wanted it to be a surprise.
Everyone loaded up into their vehicles, Jack, Diane and the kids in the truck with the trailer; and Ted and Rhonda following behind in the car. As they drove down the driveway the excitement grew in everyone until they thought they would explode. They made it to the house and parked the vehicles as they all got out and stared in amazement at their newly fixed home. "It's so beautiful, I can't believe this is the same house that we first looked at three months ago!" said Diane astonished just staring at the house. "Yep, it's all ours now baby doll! As bad as I wanted to though, I haven't went inside because I wanted to see it the same time as you. All I've seen is the land since I've been fixing that up along with your grandfather Richard." "Well, you both have done such a beautiful job! I can't believe how good it looks!" said Diane still in awe. "Well, let's all go inside and get you all settled! Plus I want to see what the inside looks like," Rhonda winked. "This is such a huge house mommy, what if I get lost?" Scotty said a little apprehensive looking at the house. She knelt on one knee and said comforting, "You'll be fine sweetie. It'll take some time getting used to learning all the different rooms and floors, but you both will be just fine." "Let's go inside daddy, I want to see my new room!" said Penny all excited tugging on Jack's hand and pulling him towards the house. "Ok ok," Jack giggled, "let's all go on inside and see how it looks!" "Me first me first!" yelled Scotty as he ran past everyone towards the front door and opened it. "Oh my gosh, the kitchen is beautiful!" gasped Diane as she stared around the room." "You've definitely got plenty of room in here that's for sure." said Rhonda. "C'mon Penny, let's go upstairs and pick out our new bedrooms!" Scotty smiled as he took her hand. "Okay Scotty, let's go!" Penny said smiling back at her brother. The kids made their way upstairs together, and once they made it to the second floor they both split up and took off in opposite directions running down the hall ways. Meanwhile, the rest of the family was downstairs still admiring the rest of the first floor which included a good-sized living room, two bathrooms, a large study, two guest bedrooms, both with king beds suits and a screened in porch area. The second floor included a master bedroom, two other regular sized bedrooms, a playroom for the kids, one full bathroom, a study, an outside small deck and a spiral staircase which led up to the half story which was for storage. Scotty took the room on the left and Penny took the right.
For the rest of the day up until the evening everyone helped with getting the furniture pieces into their proper rooms and stuff put away. The kids' boxes were brought up to their rooms and Penny and Scotty were excited putting away their things and making the rooms their own.
Scotty was on the bed playing with his toys when Penny walked into the room. She stood in the doorway for a few seconds until Scotty looked up to see his sister. "Penny are you okay?" he asked a little puzzled. She walked into the room and climbed onto the bed and sat quietly close to her brother. "Penny what's wrong?" he anxiously questioned while placing his hand on her shoulder. "If I tell you, you have to promise not to tell anyone." she said while looking up at her brother with tear filled eyes. "I promise, now tell me." he said eagerly. "I saw something in my closet while I was playing on my bed. It looked like a scary man's face." "Are you sure you wasn't seeing things?" "I don't know. Maybe our new big house has me a little scared or something." she said while wiping her eyes. Scotty hugged his sister and said, "It's okay, I'm a little nervous too. We've never had our own rooms before, but if it would make you feel better we can still share a room." "No it's okay, I probably didn't see anything." She smiled, "You're such a good big brother Scotty, I love you." "I love you too, now go on and play." She hopped off the bed, looked back at her brother and smiled again as she walked out of his room to go back to hers. After she left he sat there thinking to himself if she really did see "the man in the closet" and felt a little worried for his sister. Why would she make up something like that, let alone her tearing up about it. Those certainly weren't fake tears, and she hardly cries about anything anyways unless it's something serious.
The rest of the family had left a while ago, and the kids heard their mom call them down to dinner. The kids ran down and sat at the table with their parents. "So, your first night in your very own rooms, are you excited?" asked Jack digging through the boxes to find a piece of pizza that had all the meats on it. The kids both looked at one another wondering if one another would say anything about their previous talk. Diane noticed their looks, but didn't want to say anything about it. She would keep a mental note to pay attention to them a bit more to figure out what it was they were keeping quiet. "Are you both a little nervous about it being your first night in your own rooms?" she asked. "No." They both said in sync while shaking their heads quickly. Diane slightly giggled into her cup while taking a drink. "You know, if you both would rather share a room for a while until you're ready you can." "Honey they're fine, they'll enjoy it." said Jack about to take another bite of pizza and giving her a look. "We'll have to get you both registered for school in a few days." she said changing the subject. "That'll be a bit scary not knowing anyone there." said Penny. "You'll both be fine, and you'll make new friends. It'll be fun having sleepovers here won't it?" Their mother said smiling. They finished supper and the kids headed upstairs to brush their teeth and get into their pajamas.

Chapter 6- The Phone Call
The next morning Rhonda was already up and giving the kids and Ted breakfast. Shortly after, Diane and Jack made their way downstairs and joined them. "Well, that was good, but now I've got to go onto work and make the bacon." said Ted as he kissed Rhonda goodbye. Scotty and Penny ran over to their grandfather and hugged him goodbye as well as Diane. Jack shook his hand and Ted went off to work.
"Well honey, I'm going to go on and call those people and see what they have to say. " "Ok sweetie, me and mom will be in here talking. "said Diane as she sat back down in her chair beside her mom. After about 25 minutes or so Jack came back inside with a big smile on his face. "I take it you have some good news to tell us with the looks of that grin on your face? " suggested Diane as she smiled back. "I believe he's gonna go for it honey! When I offered the $13,000 instead of asking price, he got quiet for a second and then said he'd do some thinking. But from the sounds of his voice I believe he'll go for it. " "Did you happen to ask why he's selling it so cheap? It just doesn't make any sense." asked Diane. Jack took a seat and said, "Well, he said that it belonged to his grandfather and it's been in the family for a long time passed down through generations. He can't afford to keep the place up anymore including the land, and just wants it gone so he doesn't have to deal with the headache." "Does no one else in the family want it?" asked Rhonda as she got up to get more coffee. "I asked him that and he told me everyone else in the family is either in another state or just doesn't want it." said Jack as his phone started ringing. "Wow that was fast! Answer it! " said Diane excitedly. Jack answered the phone and went outside again. "Oh my gosh mum I'm so excited!" "I know, me too!" Not more than five minutes later Jack came back inside and yelled happily with fists in the air above his head like he just won a gold-medal for coming in first place, "WE GOT IT!" Diane ran over and hugged him, "Oh my gosh I can't believe it!" "He wants us to come down now to take care of everything we need to like the paperwork and all that good stuff." "Mum, do you mind..." "No problem, I'll watch them," Rhonda interrupted smiling, "you two go take care of the paperwork and I'll see you when you get back home." Diane and Jack thanked her again and headed to town to do what they had to do for the buying process. Later that night around 8:00 pm or so, they came back home. "It's ours mum, it's really ours!" said Diane as she hugged her mom and dad. "Well congratulations," said Ted, "when can I start with the electrical stuff for you?" "As soon as you want to start!" Jack said smiling. "Now you know you're more than welcome to stay here until the place is fixed up and livable again." Rhonda said. "Thank you so much mum, we really appreciate it." The four of them sat around the table talking about plans for fixing up the place, and each of them throwing around ideas left and right.
The kids were already in bed sleeping from a busy day of helping their Nana outside in the garden and doing stuff around the house. It was now 12:45 am, and the four of them went onto bed excited about the good news they'd received so fast.

Chapter 5- Discussion
When Jack and Diane made it home, they walked into the house to find everyone around the table eating supper. "You guys made it back just in time, I just got done making supper. Sit down and I'll make you both a plate. So how did it go, any luck?" asked Rhonda eagerly. "Well, in the beginning it went horrible. The houses were either too high in price, not enough property, or the house itself needed a lot of work. But as we were headed back home, Diane spotted a "for sale" sign and we figured we'd go check it out. The house is an old plantation home, and needs a lot of work. It's got 50 acres and they're asking only $20,000 for all of it which is unbelievable."
"Wow Jack, you couldn't ask for a better deal!" "Well, actually I'm going to try. Yes that deal's awesome and all, but really in all honesty that place ain't for us. If I can get them down to $13,000 I'll do it, and that way I can take the $7000 plus a little extra and use it for fixing up the place." said Jack. "It seems you got it all planned out then, I'm happy for both of you." Rhonda said happily. "Yeah, and that's why I leave all the complicated stuff for him." Diane giggled. "I can also help with the electrical stuff that's needed if you end up getting it." Ted offered while putting a bite into his mouth. "Oh that would be great dad, and of course we'll pay you." "I'll get the materials I can from work, but if you could just supply the stuff needed that I can't get that's all I'll ask. It's nice to have an electrician in the family isn't it?" Ted said smiling. "It sure is, but I'd still want to pay you something for your time and work." Jack said after wiping his mouth with his napkin. "Well, I won't give you an amount, all I ask is you supply the materials needed that I can't get, and if you want to throw in some boot I'll let the amount be your call. Honestly though, I'm happy to do it." "Ok then, sounds like a plan." Jack said while scooping out seconds of Rhonda's chicken and rice casserole.
The kids were soaking up every word being said as they ate. "Mom, do we have a new place to live yet?" asked Scotty while poking at a small piece of mushroom with his fork. "Maybe honey, there's a few things we've got to take care of first though before we can buy it. You and Penny will both be able to have your own rooms in that house though, won't that be exciting!?" "If it's a big house I don't know if I want my own room, the scary man might come out of my closet and get me." "What man are you talking about?" asked Ted slightly giggling. "Billy Thurman at school said there's a man that lives in the closet, and if I'm alone at night in my room that's when he'll come out and get me." said Scotty nervously. "Honey, there's no man that lives in your closet I promise. Billy probably only told you that just to scare you." Diane said. "You'll enjoy your own room. You'll be able to decorate it however you want to and it'll be all yours." "Yeah, I guess that would be good, I wouldn't have to have any girl stuff in my room anymore." "That's right, and you could help mommy paint the room and pick out the things you like and want for your room." said Diane trying to get her son excited about the idea. "I want my own room mommy, I'm not scared of any man in my closet!" Penny said happily. "Okay sweetheart, you can have your own room too." "Can I help you paint and decorate it too like Scotty?" "Of course you can, now let's get you two ready for bed." Diane said while getting up from the table and collecting their dishes.
The kids kissed their grandparents good night and made their way upstairs to brush their teeth and get into their pajamas. "Your mother and I'll be up in a minute to tuck you both in." Jack hollered to them as they made it to the top. "Tomorrow I'll call that number that was on the sign and talk to them about that house." Jack said while getting up and pushing his chair in. Rhonda and Ted did the same and picked up the rest of the dishes. "Who knows, maybe you'll be proud homeowners by the end of the week!" Ted said. "Yeah, that would be pretty awesome. Well, I think I'm gonna go onto bed now it's been a long day." said Jack. "You both go on and get you some sleep and we'll see you in the morning." Rhonda said while loading the dishwasher.
Diane hugged and kissed her parents good night and started up the stairs. Jack said his goodnights as well and followed Diane. They tucked their kids in then went off to bed. Rhonda and Ted watched a bit of TV before heading off to bed themselves.

Chapter 4- House Hunting
They both got into the truck and headed on out of the driveway. Diane turned the radio onto a country station and rolled her window down to enjoy the cool breeze on her face while looking at the scenery as Jack drove. He picked up his pack of smokes, lit one up and cracked the window. "I'm so excited, I can't wait to find the perfect home for us. It'll be fun decorating and mum can help me!" "Don't go getting too excited, we've got a budget to stick to and depending on the home we end up going with, we might have to put money towards fixing up the place." said Jack while blowing a thin stream of smoke out the window. "Yeah you're right, and anyways we'll have the rest of our lives to do what we want to do with the place." Diane said with a smile. "Take a right at the stop sign," she said pointing, "that'll take us down the road mum was telling us about."
They drove a couple miles and saw a bunch of homes for sale. Pulling into each one of the driveways they'd get out, look at the price and assess the property. After looking at the last property, they got back into the truck disappointed. Jack looked at Diane and said glumly,"Well sweetie, they ended up being either too high, not enough land or the place needed a crapload of work." "Yeah I know, maybe we'll get lucky in a month or two. Let's take the long way back home and at least enjoy the rest of our ride together." "Sounds like a plan." he said playfully trying to cheer Diane up while giving her a couple quick squeezes of the hand. They drove a few minutes talking back and forth when she spotted a small, weathered "home for sale" sign. "Look honey another sign, and it says drastically reduced! Let's go take a look." "Yeah, what's drastically reduced mean to them, $150,000 like all the others and higher?" he said sarcastically. "You never know and we're out here anyways, let's just go look." "Alright, if you really want to we'll go look." said Jack a little irritably. They drove down the old graveled driveway which looked like it hadn't been driven on in a long time. It was about a mile and a half and surrounded by woods. "So far I'm loving it, woods....no neighbors....now if only the price is right and the house ain't in too bad of shape." Jack said hopefully. Diane just sat looking out the window tying to hide her excitement after hearing Jack's statement. As they neared the end of the wooded tunnel, they began to see the house appear from behind the trees as they drive closer. The house from what they could tell was at least 100 years old if not older. The once white coat of paint it wore was just about all chipped away and dingy looking. Some of the windows were broken and others cracked. It's roof had green shingles, which seemed to still be in good condition. It had two full stories and an attic area that you had to walk around hunched over in. "This place is huge! Tons of acreage and room to grow...what do you think?" Diane asked with eyes gleaming. "It needs a ton of work no doubt, but I love how it's in the middle of the woods with no neighbors. Let's see what the asking price is and we'll go from there." said Jack a little uncertain. They headed up the walkway towards the front door and beside the steps they saw a small white sign which was also pretty weathered like the other one by the road. "Hmm...$20,000, o.b.o.? It's so cheap, this makes no sense in the least bit." he said suspiciously. "This is such an amazing offer honey! 50 acres and a 2.5 story house in the middle of the woods, we need to jump on this deal." she said while tapping Jack's shoulder fast in excitement. "I'll tell you what Diane, let me get ahold of the seller and see if I can get them down to $13,000." "Why $13,000?" she asked. "Cause I honestly don't think this is the right home for us, but I do believe things happen for a reason. If I can get them down to my favorite number 13, then I'll consider that a sign that it's for us." he said while still staring at the house. "Ok, deal! Now let's head on back home and tell everyone about the house we found!" she said with a smile.

Chapter 3- Breakfast
It was the next morning and the kids were already awake and running around the house downstairs. Diane opened her eyes slowly as the rays from the warm sun came through the window and touched her face. She smiled and thought to herself how wonderful it felt to be back home again in the house in which she grew up. Diane rolled over to face Jack and she caressed his cheek as he slept and said with a slight smile, "I love you so much....you mean everything to me and always will."
As she continued to caress his cheek, Jack popped his eyes open and said loudly, "AWW I LOVE YOU TOO!" and pulled her arms under the blankets to wrap her up tightly and started kissing her neck while making snarling animal noises to try and tickle her. They both were laughing loudly as the kids came flying through the door and jumped on the bed bouncing around.
"Guess what, guess what, guess what!!" said Scotty all excitable.
As they both sat up in the bed, Jack and Diane said together in sync," What, what, what!"
"Nana's got millions of pancakes cooked and bacon and sausage and syrup and toast!"
"Yeah, and she also has this pretty colored thing with flowers in them on the table." Penny said with a big grin.
"Well go on with your sister downstairs and start eating, me and your mom will be down shortly."
The kids ran out the door while Jack and Diane shortly followed after making the bed. When they got downstairs they saw Rhonda finishing up putting the last bit of bacon on the table. Ted was already sitting at the end of the table in his green robe with a plate and cup of oj waiting on everyone else to get seated.
"Well good morning you two, get some of this yummy goodness before the kids eat it all like vacuum cleaners!"
Jack sat next to Ted and started piling the pancakes and sausage on his plate.
"Sounds good to me there Ted, I'm ready!"
Diane was pouring herself a cup of milk and offered some to her mum.
"No thank you, I got my coffee and got the kids already set up too. So, are you two going to go on your little house hunt after you're done eating? Diane, you know the back roads you use to travel on, I've seen a ton through there for sale if you want to check them out. "
"Yup, we'll get ready after we eat and head on out in that direction, and thanks for the wonderful breakfast and for watching the kids."
"Oh not a problem at all, and of course it's wonderful did you expect less?" said Rhonda while laughing.
Diane giggled," Of course not, where do you think I learned it from?!"
After a while of reminiscing and chit chatting together, Jack and Diane went upstairs, got dressed, kissed the kids goodbye and headed on out to the car to begin their search.

Chapter 2- Watertown, Tn
After being in the truck for what seemed like forever, they finally made it to Rhonda's house, Diane's mother, around 8:00pm. Jack and Diane got out of the truck and each grabbed one of their sleeping kids and walked up to the front door. As Jack was just about to knock, the door opened and Rhonda rushed towards them arms wide open and hugged all four of them at the same time.
"Diane! Jack! Kids! OMG! I'm so glad to see you all! I'm so happy you decided to move down here. Everyone's so much nicer and hospitable here and you'll love the scenery; come on in and I'll help u with your bags. "
The family walked inside the house and as Diane looked around she saw it looked exactly as it did when she still lived at home which made her feel so warm and happy inside.
"Mum I've missed you so much, where's dad, is he working?"
"Yeah he'll be home probably around 10:00 pm tonight."
"Where should we put the kids so they can sleep Rhonda?" said Jack as he made his way to the living room.
"Diane, show Jack where to go; let the kids sleep in your old room and you two can take the guest bedroom across the hall from the kids. Once you get them settled come on back down and I'll be getting some coffee going."
Jack and Diane both started walking upstairs still carrying the kids and trying to walk as softly as they could so they wouldn't wake them up. Once they made it to the top, they went into the room straight ahead and carefully laid both kids down in the bed. Jack took the kids' shoes off and set them in the corner as Diane tucked them in.
Diane wrapped her arms around Jack's waist and said, "There, they'll sleep good tonight. Come on Jack, let's go downstairs and relax now and chit chat with mum for a while. I love you sweetheart."
"I love you too darling, you're my everything," Jack said as he kissed Diane's forehead.
They made their way downstairs and back into the kitchen where they found Rhonda sitting at the table with a big smile on her face and in front of her sat two mugs and a bottle of diet Mountain Dew.
"Awww Rhonda, you remembered," said Jack in a playfully sarcastic way.
"Oh but of course! You expected me to forget you only drink dew? Haha yeah right, have a seat you two; and Diane I made you a big mug of hot tea."
"Well thanks mum, my fave not to mention I could really use some now! So, how have things been here with the family?"
"Oh things have been really good with everyone. Your brother Sam is still into the bull riding and Luke's a professional Chef at some fancy restaurant; both of them are doing so well."
Jack took a sip of his dew and said to Rhonda with a smile,"So, have u seen any good homes for sale around here anywhere? The faster we find one the faster we can get out of your hair ya know."
"Oh Jack, you know none of yal are a bother to me and yes actually I have seen some for sale signs around this area. You two should take a drive tomorrow and enjoy yourselves while house hunting and let me watch the kids; we'll all have a good time."
It was now half past ten and Diane's dad, Ted, walked in. As soon as he came through the front door he had a huge smile in his face and hugged both Diane and Jack.
"Ah you've made it in just fine I see. I'm assuming the kids are upstairs in bed?"
"Yup, they were sleeping when we pulled up so I figured just let them sleep so they won't be crabby tomorrow. Oh Jack, don't forget to park the trailer under the carport incase it rains."
"I'll go on and do that now hun."
Rhonda got up from her chair, hugged and kissed Ted's cheek and said,"Honey, want me to heat you up some leftovers?"
"Oh please and thank you, I'm starving."
Diane got up from her chair, put her mug in the dishwasher and while making her rounds to say goodnight to her mom and dad she said to Rhonda,"Mum thank you for offering to watch the kids tomorrow, it will be nice for just me and Jack to drive around looking for our new house."
"No problem, I'd be more than glad to. When Jack gets back in why don't you two go on and get you some sleep?"
"Yeah, we need our sleep cause we have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow. Goodnight I love you both."
Diane's parents said goodnight to her and she made her way outside to where Jack was.
"Do you need help with anything sweetie?"
"No darlin' I was just parking the trailer under this carport. Let's go on upstairs and get us some sleep."
Jack followed Diane back into the house and upstairs to the guest bedroom. They both changed into their pj's, crawled into bed and kissed each other goodnight; and both fell asleep within minutes while holding onto one another close.

Chapter 1- The Move
Early Tuesday morning at 6:00 am, Jack (42) and Diane (35) started their move from Boston, Ma to Diane's mother's house in Watertown, Tn to live until they found a new home of their own. Scotty (10) and Penny (8) were in the back seat quietly staring out the window dozing in and out since they'd still be in bed at this hour. The truck and trailer were packed full, and they didn't have much since they were moving from a little single-wide two bedroom trailer. Both Scotty and Penny were fast asleep after about twenty minutes into the trip; and Jack held onto Diane's hand tightly in his own as they drove; both excited about starting a new chapter in their lives.
