An Ode to the Outsiders
For the impatient,
for the ambitious,
for the timid,
for the fearful.
To all the introverts
and poets,
for those who feel,
but don't show it.
To the quiet,
to the loud,
to the masses.
I write this to you,
I write this for you.
Here's a nod to the
misunderstood,
a high-five to the
underachiever,
a hug for the lonely,
solace to the scared.
A light in the dark,
shelter in the storm,
the beautiful beyond the norm.
This is what you need to hear,
a steady voice,
a friend is near.
A connection to the disconnected,
I hear you.
If you're on the edge,
let this pull you back.
If you're at the end of
a thread-bare rope...
step back,
step down,
there
is
hope.
Little Diamond
When it starts to get dark,
I hear my mom say:
Take...
a...
breath.
You are NOT
the first, the last, or the only
to be enveloped in darkness.
But,
you my dear,
are a little piece of coal
under pressure.
THAT makes you a diamond,
harder than any other rock.
Shine through my darling,
my little diamond,
in the dark,
you
are
FABULOUS.
You are my gem,
my little diamond girl,
conquerer of the world.
F what "they" think,
you will survive.
The beauty of this world
is not BORN,
it is made.
Sparkle and shine,
baby doll of mine.
Even the darkness
eventually
becomes the light.
