Caught in the Veil
I’m caught between worlds;
Veil of heaven and earth
My soul floats, unfurled
Among sadness and mirth
Captured in minutes;
My life ’fore my eyes
Grasping sentiments
Scattered sands of my times
Every joy passes through me;
The mist of my essence
Each tear gleaming, shimmery
Alighting my substance
My soul longs for heaven
Where sorrow’s no more
Yet, my gaze glances downward;
My body, below
I’ve just minutes to choose;
The perfect and pure
Or the sorrows I knew
My companions on earth
The time passes quickly
Few seconds remain
I gasp of the heavenly
Fill my earthen remains
I swallow the light
With all of my being
Flee the tunnel of bright
Seven minutes, deciding
The pain’s worth the love
The joys exceed grief
I part from above
With new found beliefs

once, I knew
I ONCE KNEW
a sun
a moon
that burned
that shone with stolen light
spreading flames
tracing hope
across the land
spreading a wash of moonlight
inciting dark passions like
cold flames (stolen light)
in the day.
in the dark.
I ONCE KNEW
a boy
a man
young
old
flying so high
falling so low
open
closed
fingertips
reaching for the
sky, the sun
beyond
hands clenched
drowning in the waters
AND I ONCE KNEW
love
that burned
fire in my heart
blazing with passion
unlike anything I had
seen
a sun
a boy
kisses that melted me
AND ONCE I KNEW
love
that ignited with stolen light
cold flames in my heart
dark passions
unlike anything I had
seen
a moon
a man
kisses that drowned me
love in the light
love in the dark
the beginning of the end
the end of the end
