The Rose She Refused To Take
Like a skydiver whose
parachute failed to open
or an astronaut whose
rocket never made
it into space,
my dreams had been
painfully broken
and a tragic ending
was mine to embrace.
At that moment not one
single word was spoken
nor did any tears of despair
stream down my face.
I took with me only
rejection as a token
and for days stared
disconsolately at the
rose she refused to take.
Clumsy lovebirds
We grew up dropping countless jars full of multicolored marbles and being humiliated by the world for being so foolishly careless. Later on in life we went on to do incredible things with bits and pieces of our shattered hearts once the universe united us – things which made me believe we were born to create astonishingly gorgeous mosaics. You and I became two clumsy yet happy lovers doing clumsy yet wondrous things whilst clumsily yet madly in love.
A sailor and his mermaid
There is no need to
worry about me falling
for anyone else's eyes
Would a sailor not
rebel and choose the
deep blue sea if forced
to pick either land or sky?
Rest assured that you are
this wanderlust sailor's
absolute favorite song
Becoming entranced by your
haunting lullabies whilst standing
merely a few painful feet away from you,
my beautiful and ethereal mermaid,
is exactly where I belong
‘Cotton Candy Clouds’
Let us always keep tiny bags of stardust in our pockets so that we can sprinkle some
over those who lack an imagination. Grab my hand and let us rekindle the beautiful flames inside people's hearts which dwindled as they grew old! We could gather large groups of avid dreamers and take hot air balloon rides to taste the cotton candy clouds we are very often pulled down from. My sweet beloved, you and I were born to bring color to the mundane areas of this world.
‘Tangled up in you’
You are a garden spider
and I am an awfully fortunate
landscaper on those magical
nights we cuddle together
I lie down in bed drained
from everyday obligations,
watching you elegantly weave
a beautiful web until my
whole being is delightfully
tangled up in your fascinating
dreams and nightmares
Breathe (Mini poem about anxiety)
I ran outside frantically and did
so barefoot to feel more connected
with the rich earth beneath my feet
My tired arms stretched out like
two strong wings on an elegant
airplane trying to embrace the
pink horizon within reach
Along the way I desperately
asked the sapphire heavens above my troubled head for immediate relief
Every celestial star and unshaken
dandelion on that cloudless,
windless night kept telling
me to just breathe
Leftover Fairy Dust
She knelt before the
ocean and politely asked
if it could form a wave powerful
enough to wash away all her pain
but the ocean denied her request
because she too would drown
Later that evening she showed
up at my door with nothing more
than a four-leaf clover
begging me to use my
last bit of fairy dust
I did not know what darkness
lengthened her hours
All I knew was that her
lonely eyes displayed an
overwhelming urge
to escape reality
And so we did
A Beacon Of Hope
A little bird told me that you have been feeling quite distraught as of late and
are contemplating avoiding heartbreak at all costs for the remainder of your days.
When your hope begins vanishing into the purple horizon again, I want you to remember how the moment you are ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens. Perhaps, just perhaps, the reason those vigilant stars outside keep begging you to kiss them enthusiastically every night is because the next romantic partner heaven sends into your life will be the one it doesn't also take away.
The Fog
Jump into the fog and make an effort to find me. You won't be able to see clearly with your bare eyes, but I trust that you know by now the most beautiful things in life are felt and not seen. Use your other senses to guide you. You can use the part of your soul you have ignored for so long as a portal to the realm I currently reside in. It is a foreign paradise where heartbreak has no place in a dictionary, and where a cure that is easily accessible to those who are terribly grief-stricken exists. Although I am certain you would miss the chaos dearly, I promise you will finally be able to rest. Before drifting through the cosmos, we should let it be known we mustn't be woken till the gentle night settles in; for I do not wish to wake up from this daydream unless it is to fall asleep and dream of it again.
Unsolicited Graffiti
Vandalism is illegal pretty much everywhere, yet your initials are carefully scattered across my heart. You spray-painted without hesitation because you knew I was not a law that can place you behind steel bars if broken, but an empty canvas you could paint heartrendingly beautiful landscapes on. There is one thing I certainly have in common with the owners of all the walls you've ever vandalized, and that thing is how I never gave you permission to leave a permanent mark on my territory.
