First, there was Sloth,
and me, it's detainee.
"you're already at rest,
so stay at rest with me."
Then came Gluttony,
this large giggling beast.
"all workers need a break,
so come, join the feast."
Next was Envy,
as I saw the crowd.
"So many are already ahead,
unfair they are all proud."
And Pride did not take long,
after that call.
"Why aren't we the same?
We should already have it all."
But progress came slow,
as Wrath made an uproar.
for each bump,
destroying so much more.
Then the greatest evil came,
when all thoughts have been defeated.
You finally notice,
how much time has quietly fleeted.
What I’ve Never Had
I've never had someone to look up to. To see as a role model, someone who I can always count on. The empty space in my childhood is my adversary. I've always been alone, a lost child. I never knew what it was like to have someone be proud of me. I want to fill that empty space. I want to push myself. So whether my adversary is me, or that empty place, I am unsure.
Antipode
Haves and have-nots,
Champions and losers.
Heroes and noughts,
Abstainers and boozers.
Humorless and funny,
Diminutive and tall.
Melancholy and sunny,
Exciting and banal.
Inelegant and classy,
Brain-dead and astute.
Well-digesting and gassy,
Obtuse and acute.
Homely and attractive,
Putrid and fragrant.
Lively and inactive,
Restrained and flagrant.
Perceptive and moronic,
Bestowers and takers.
Religious and demonic,
Authentics and fakers.
Barbaric and civilized,
Preeminent and untitled.
Haphazard and organized,
Disenfranchised and entitled.
Slender and rotund,
Silent and loud.
Accepted and shunned,
Humble and proud.
Female and male,
Son and daughter.
Vibrant and pale,
Fire and water.
