You guys can surely see
That we girls are hard to beat
You think we all just hoes
But not the girls of Prose
We are...
Intelligent
Significant
Magnificent
Prolificent
Not arrogant
We represent
No discontent
We circumvent
Some dement
We all consent
In our ascent
We wont relent
So don't resent
And don't lament
If we prevent
Your bad intent
Sure we agree
Brought to your knee
We dont need
No referee
You can plea
But I decree
No gaurantee
That you'll go free.
That wraps it up
So, yo, wassup?
Hi
Hello! I'm Brittney. I am married & a Mom of 3 boys. I homeschool and sell crafts and stuff on etsy. I love coffee, books, & video games. I am currently working on a sci-fi novel called "Aurora". If you like female main characters/hero's, outerspace, the apocalypse, and extraterrestrials you will like my book. I also write poetry.
I'm happy to be here & to have found Prose! :)
Summer’s Romance
I can smell summer in your hair
Organic
Like soil newly unearthed
By the rains
Your skin
Humid
Slick from playing in the clouds too long
That sank too low
Pushed by the breeze
Off the coast
Were you alone?
Your eyes
Still flicker with a firefly's dance
Did I ever have a chance
To compete with Summer's romance
I'll share you
I'll share you with the sun
And kiss your skin
I'll share you with the ocean
To soothe your heart again
And I'll wrap around your body
With the wind
Mel for President 2036
So there's a writer here on Prose named Mel. Have you read her stuff? She's probably read yours. She's probably left you an encouraging comment. If she hasn't yet, she will. Not because she has to or is expected to.... She's just that kind of encouraging person.
So now that you've read her work... How old do you think she is? Let me tell you...23.
TWENTY FUCKING THREE
Yet she writes with that level of maturity. Her writings are full of pain, heartbreak, anger, inspiration, and love. Her writings are infinitely relatable, yet still at a higher level than most of us are it. My opinion? It is because she dealt with more hardships and misery in her first 15 years than most people do in a lifetime. I'm not going to spill her story here, but just say that those who should've loved and nurtured this girl failed miserably to do so. I'm more sad for them though, because Mel has thrived despite the odds, and those people missed out on knowing her the way they should have. Their loss, for sure.
Mel could've chosen a much different course for her life, it wouldn't have been in the least surprising if she'd ended up as just another statistic. Apple falling close to the tree and all that. She didn't though. She's the apple that rolled down the hill, back up the next one, then found a ramp and jumped Super Mario style to the next level. She's humble, she'll brush off such praise as if it's no big deal. Not true, kid, it's a very big deal.
She works all the time, she's raising her younger brother. Know what private school tuition costs? Ask Mel, she does. She's also attending college herself. She's sweet, she's kind, she's charming, she writes like a poet's dream.
To top it off, she's good looking.
This girl is going places, I am sure of it. I am 16 years older, yet I look to this girl as inspiration. I like to tell her "When I grow up, I wanna be just like you." It's true, I totally do. Mark my words people, Mel is going to be president one day, or maybe Queen.
