Sooooo...I Am Me
Ok. So. I've already written nearly 30 posts here, but I decided to go ahead and do one of these introduction thingies now.
My full name is Trina High and the surname is from marrying my second husband. I'm divorced again, but am still High, *giggle*. The ex- and I also share 3 offspring, all grown and living their own lives, my youngest soon to be joining her life with her fiancé's.
As you can probably tell, especially if you've read any of my other posts, I tend to be "off my rocker", as they say, but that's only because I figure life is too short to walk around all serious and somber all the time. Plus, I turned 48 in October, so I guess I'm trying to be young, too...or is that recapture my youth? In any event, yeah, I'm basically just a child in an adult's body...
Is this where I put my likes and dislikes? Yes? Ok...In addition to reading and writing, I also love creating things in general. When I was younger, I made my own greeting cards, including hand-drawn bar codes and "TrinaMark" on the back. I've since added doing latch hook rugs and loom-knitting to my repertoire, with occasional throw pillow-making thrown in. Other things that I waste my time on are surfing the ole web and napping. While awake and outside of the house, I may join friends in some soft sports, such as putt-putt miss, gutter-balling, roller-falling, or 8-ball miss. I'm also interested in one day trying rock-falling from, but I'm afraid of heights, so I'm not sure how those two will work together... My few pet peeves include rudeness and obnoxiousness, lying, and drivers who go at a snail's pace.
Speaking of pets, I LOVE animals, having had everything from gerbils to parakeets to turtles to rabbits. I currently have only one pet (due to space limitations), a dog named Dahlia, but I also adore cats and they're actually usually my pet of choice. I got Dahlia because I was moving from Ohio to Illinois and I wanted a furry burglar alarm. Ideally, I'd have a ranch one day, so I can also have cows, horses, pigs, giraffes, elephants... Hmmm. Maybe I should just visit a petting zoo, instead. (My mother was actually raised on, and now has, a farm in MS, hence my love of creatures of all varieties).
Lastly, I can't leave without mentioning my love of music. Up until about 3 years ago, that only went as far as singing in the shower, but then I got with my S.O, who co-founded a band, the Urban Gypsies Music Group Chicago (Shameless Plug and website address go here: https://www.reverbnation.com/urbangypsies). Upon reading a story I was - and still am - writing that includes a rapping skunk, he asked me to help a band-mate with writing a song. I did and have been writing, rapping, and singing every since.
Whew! Are you still with me? *looks around* I'm really enjoying my time here, at Prose; I love writing and even more, I love reading what you all are writing. Let's continue on this journey together, shall we?
Maybe you can change the world off of lower inhibitions
A sense of child
A sense of wild
Maybe all of your perspective can be turned into pure bliss
If you wanted this
Hey, childhood
Hey, to be understood
A time to be free
A time to be me
Without the confines of society
A LIFE LIKE A CHILD
A LIFE TO BE WILD
Nothing beats, being a child.
Sweet bliss
Sweet bliss
Even the toughest times
Doesn't compare
To the mind of our minds
As an adult
Life is so dull
So bleak and mild
I miss being a child.
Why the Butterfly
They say we flit through windows
In the middle of the night
When the cobblers, thieves, and widows,
Creep and weep by candlelight
They say we steal the butter
They made to wet their bread
They say it would be better
If all of us were dead
We churn our soil with poison
Into butter sow we salt
Their wings we take our joys in
A precious trophy of our faults
