Society
Seriousness can be categorized in many different ways and can be looked at with different perspectives. Being serious can be associated with being complacent and stern about a certain moral standard. Ever since we were kids, society has taught us to shut up because vocalizing our complaints is something radical and frowned upon. If we show the smallest bit of an attempt of revolutionary change, the spotlight is suddenly on us and we are antagonized for our beliefs. Therefore, we remain serious, at least what society believes is serious because nobody wants to be the person that is criticized, even if they are the ones pushing the boundaries of social norm. The question "Why so serious?" cannot be answered on an individual basis, but instead must be presented to the public as to why we are limiting ourselves from taking risks and exploring change.
Gone
Gripping his cold hands in mine,
the absence of current, electricity, light,
no pulse or sense of life could be distinguished,
yet my heartbeat was kept perfectly still.
The sounds of laughter rings in my ears,
a chilling sensation that brings happiness,
to one, but pierces a spear through
my bleeding organ, unraveling the truth.
Gone, Gone, Gone, my lover is Gone.
His departure was a mystery,
but the affect has been set in stone
in my longing ever beating.
Truly only wanting love to hold,
and receiving a legacy to mourn for.
Bodies
When God created the body,
there was nothing to compare it to.
He graced us with color,
crafted our features and our figures,
and when he was done he smiled.
Now as he looks down upon us,
he sees us covering our details,
"enhancing" our imperfections,
and destroying his exquisite art.
You wouldn't paint over a Picasso.
Wouldn't you?
