Oh those bastards are cruel
if you fly too close to a star, you fry.
But if you dont fly close, enough, you freeze.
They pull you, in, just to throw you out into the cold. There is no in-between on a long enough time span.
Thats how stars are. They fuse atoms, and radiate hatred. Some worship them, and the blood scarficed in their honor turns them on, brings droughts.
Some implode darkly, others explode in shockwave, creating cool heavy elements like uranium for us to blow ourselves up.
We are star dust, the leftover from such a merciless hedonist, that didn't care where his junk turns up. No wonder we are the same .
Skin burns, melanoma, inevitable doom.
And those arty types who look up at the sky and draw in blue and gray, the aggregated clusters, those get dementia.
I hate them so...
Rising
the stars always felt far away,
I guess
I was a child of the earth and trees
and movies set in outer space feel like
I shouldn't be here
cold and empty
foreign
fake
but now I know I'm made of stars
because I'm made of everything, everything
and when I opened my eyes
I saw something
I'm made of water and air with an earthen mask and fire in my fist
I thought I was a solid rock but
I've been water soaking everything up
Taurus Rising, Cancer Sun, Cancer Moon
Venus in Gemini, Mars in Sagittarius, Mercury in Cancer
the stars don't change us, but
if you open your eyes
you'll see something
The stars
I look up, I see the light of the burning ball of gas that has traveled years, decades, centuries, millennia to get here. The warmth from a thermonuclear reaction that might have heated another world before so long before that beautiful light traveled through the cold and dark depths of space to be seen from our own. A thing of beauty, wonder, perfect as a subject for an artist, a fascination for a scientist, and a source of amazement for anyone in between.
As dark as the sky is, it has for a partner the moon and the stars. You can take a look at them when you go on a romantic date and kiss under them but...but the stars only makes sense when you are alone. See, there is the magic you are looking for but quite a few people will realize it!
So you can sit in your bedroom near the window, or go somewhere alone and take a look at the stars. Feelings will take over your mind like happiness or sadness, mostly sadness cause that's what comes on top when we are alone.
For me, well, I love to go somewhere alone, sit there for a while and look up at the stars. First thing I like to do is to smile at them and take a quick look. In that few seconds you feel how amazing and beautiful the sky is and may appreciate the nature of that. So after that I like to talk to my grandfather, cause I believe that at nights, he is a gorgeous star and so I talk to him for the things that scare me the most and for my dark ideas or anything.
When I look at the stars, I wanna cry so bad and let my feelings be. "In the stars I shall show my weakness."
My bond with the stars might not be that strong but it helps me so damn much to throw away every bad feeling and stay strong to survive and keep going on..!
A Constant Reminder
"Reach for the moon and if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
This quote hung up on my kitchen wall for as long as I can remember. It was etched onto a faded canvas in blotty calligraphy which was honestly quite funny. I just couldn't take it seriously. Those words just didn't make sense to me.
When I was in elementary school, I learned that some of the stars we see aren't there anymore. Light takes many years to travel to Earth and by the time it does reach Earth, it may have already died. However, the light emitted by the stars are still visible after its demise.
With this in mind, the cheesy quote on my kitchen wall seemed like a contradictory conundrum. If you miss the moon (your goal), you might still land among the stars. But if the stars were dead, what exactly did you accomplish?
Maybe I was just looking too deep into it. There was no reason to take the quote literally. It was merely meant to be inspirational.
When quarantine struck, I've had more time to think about it. Even in the context of dead stars, the quote was quite uplifting. The fact that we can witness the brilliance of celestial bodies after they burn out is inspirational. It constantly reminds us that in spite of our own burnouts, the efforts we make have a lasting impact on the world.
If you miss the moon, your efforts were not in vain. It may take some time for your light to show but eventually you'll get there. In fact, your light would shine even brighter after you overcome the trials and tribulations that burning out poses.
