The Give in World
I saw the best minds of my generation
black markers in hand
applying them
to piss stained walls
Howling at the mooooooon
rhyming it with May
drowning in beer
killing fears
calling each other dude
high five!
awesome!
I saw the best minds of my generation
dressed as
cardboard cutouts
in therapy
wanking to
live porn
wiping grease
off burger chins
fearing for death
of unrealized life
I saw the best minds of my generation
destroyed by -
the best minds of my generation
Promises
I saw the best minds of my generation
Stuck
Down-right
Fucked
I saw them scratching their way through a
Master's
Then serving up French fries and Quarter Pounders
I saw the best minds of my generation
Dead
Tapped-out
Bled
I saw them stale next to a suicide note in a greenhouse
And then face plastered too late to come up as a god before
I saw the best minds of my generation
Tired
Worn-down
Flat
Sifting through piles upon piles of folded pink letters
And burning them with a flipped bird to the wind for good riddance
I saw the best minds of my generation
Confused
Over-drawn
Questioning
The seeds from which they were sown are the ones that have trampled
And then left them alone to pick up jagged pieces with soft hands
I saw the best minds of my generation
Dreaming
Far-reaching
Building
On fantasies we believed were always attainable if we just worked
And then dragged back down into the abyss of reality we knew not of
I believe I will see the best minds of my generation
Rise
Lift-up
Fight
Against the pre-inflicted oppression of pockets and races
And feed dead sentiment fistfuls of its own ashes
What I saw with my eyes
I saw the best minds of my generation
stand and watch a bully
rise to the podium
I saw the best minds of my generation
create another holocaust while trying to heal a genocide of hate.
I saw the best minds of my generations
turn the words I love you into a battle cry.
I saw the best minds of my generation
throw their brains in the trash to adopt this new trend of hate.
I saw the best minds of my generations
doubt the young people
and saw their interest in politics as a trend.
I saw the best minds of my generations
draw a pipeline through my history book.
I saw the best minds of generations
suck the color out the sky
and divide it into sections
black or white.
I saw the best minds of my generation
paint a rainbow in blood
I saw the best minds of my generation
entertain fear
I saw the best minds of my generations
try to grow flowers out of the darkest corners of hope.
Try to develop new colors with the colors black and white.
they took the bones of the dead and cracked them
open and found the scrolls to the answer of universal peace.
But I saw the best minds of my generations
line up tanks while trying to create peace.
I saw the best minds of generations
be inclusive but they forgot the minorities.
Yes, I saw the best minds of my generations
create life while creating death
and shooting ones who were fighting for a better future,a better tomorrow in hopes of meeting the horizon.
I Saw Them Fall
I look around at the poor weary souls around me.
All we know is work.
Working to carry to world of tomorrow into the world of your dreams.
Working to stop the world from suffering.
Even though we still can't get over our own problems.
How do you expect us to save you, when we can't even manage to save ourselves?
I saw the best minds of my generation fall around me, succumbing to the darkness of themselves.
They drop to the ground, either dead or unable to move.
We work until our dying breath, just to prove to ourselves we didn't fail you.
Sorry we couldn't meet the bar.
Maybe you should put within sight next time.
THAT’S WHY OUR SOULS DIED
I saw the best minds of my generation
They have dream but aren’t interested in realizing it
I’m going to be the best governor, teacher or lawyer
They see the success and achievement of their family
But neglect the hardship and failure behind those glories
They flaunt about what their parents own
And ignore what they really have
The only thing that matters is the money
Is the reputation
I’m standing on the top
Watching my generation sink into endless imagination
Their fantasy grabs their roots
Stabs into the rich soil, and grows thicker to grasp those yellow dirt
Brings all the roots toward the core of the Earth
Locks them to the narrow dungeon
Till the sun erodes the planet, and the land collapses into pieces
I’m standing on the top
Watching my generation fall into dreary wayside
They keep falling into the abyss which was created by themselves
I saw the best minds of my generation
Some of them awoken by the reality
And some of them are still immersing in that backwater
They can’t blame anything or anyone
Because it’s the time for them to swallow their pride
And embrace their graves
