Symbiotic Relationship
Joy and Sorrow sip coffee
as next door neighbors -
the light and shadows of life,
stitched together
like hand-made quilts.
That which gives you Sorrow,
also tenders blossoming Joy
as scales harboring Sorrow shift
from one side to the other.
The fire of Joy leaves drippings
of Sorrow in wisps of smoke.
If Joy is shared, it doubles bulk
and fills wide open spaces
but shared Sorrow is halved
and becomes less of a burden.
Sorrow chisels into soul
leaving a welcoming expanse
for Joy to bloom and thrive.
Symbiotic relationship
where each has its place.
To The Lover That Came Back
My gaze has fallen upon you,
Laying sheepishly beneath me.
A laugh escapes my lips,
You thought you had me,
As my finger pulls back the
Trigger.
My dark hair flies around my
Almond shaped, brown eyes.
I drop my weapon
And walk away.
This is my revenge
For the sorrow you gave me.
Joy fills me head to toe
As I feel the freeness of
My self worth expand
In the atoms around me.
No, it's not for your return...
But for my final good bye.
