The Art of Poetry
You are absolutely right my friend, when there is order, there is no pen.
When there is a chaotic state, you can write, you can create.
When there is calm, there is no need for outlet, there is no qualm.
When you have turmoil, you have material, you can toil.
When life is serene, life is pleasant, your life is a dream.
Then disarray strikes, you want to vent, you need to gripe.
This is the time to grab your pen, no more block, you can indite, Amen.
My thought process
Tried to write but got writers block and this feels ironic considering I was going to write about writers block.
I have a headache and I've tried to sleep twice already but instead I'm sitting up in bed battling with my kindle's shitty autocorrect. For example: it just corrected the word bed to Jeffery ?? This is taking too long and I want to downgrade to a typewriter.
I agree, though. Order is not artistic at all so I have eliminated it completely from my day to day life. Every morning when I brush my teeth with my unpleasant baking soda toothpaste I think of something different. I write a lot of poems but not many of them are good and I get tired of the good ones after a few hours/days.
Now I remember.I was going to write an extended metaphor poem comparing thoughts to rain droplets or something then decided that was too cliche and deleted it. Thought: that poem would not get likes, thought: do I care about likes? Decided: I am becoming very petty and should spend some time self reflecting this weekend. Realized: it's Sunday night so therefore the weekend is over.
Sorry about your writers block. My advice is to find whatever is blocking those words and remove it right away. Break the dam. But don't kill any beavers in the process.
I digress.

Your mind is Inside-Out
Writer's block- simple Disney definition. Somebody let Sadness near the control panel and she got tears and snot all in the Idea slot and then when Fear saw he went crazy and knocked into the button that shut down your Poetry Island, and it took the crew a long time to repair it because Joy thought that replacing the Idea slot was more important so she had them do that first. Most likely, JD4, Sadness cried for a longer time than usual so the crew had to repair more of the control panel, so you should expect your writer's block to be fixed shortly.

The Thinker’s Burden
The writer's block exists as a paradox: its immeasurable weight causing terrible strain and fatigue... carriers convinced that there is a Point to which these precious contents (not yet seen) are to be conveyed... then unfolded into some very significant Thing (or Things, as ambition would deem)...
We long for some tangible reassurance (proof) that we are on track with our delivery, while we find our hands and pockets empty; our thoughts in vapid disarray. Irritatingly, we begin to have the impression that we carry this block in our shoe, where worse than a pebble it nags and smarts our soul with every move. It's true, many humans grow callous. Others rip off the trappings to rid themselves of the nuisance without hesitation... while a few bare with it, determined as if to comprehend what all this nagging is about... and as they ponder, they seem to see themselves as if leaving a sort of rocky out crop— a plateau.
The infinitesimal grit is forcing these individuals to go where they wouldn't necessarily venture on their own. They don't go higher, only forward... "up to the end," as it were. The formation (being what it is, "plateau") forces them to descend... into the expanse... that ironic emptiness so full of heat, cold, sand... everything it seems that one does not want... underscoring Need ...leading to Mirage ...and visions of Oasis in the desert... which if perseverance combines with luck, one might actually in fact stumbled upon...
This is the nature, I believe, of the writer's block. It is the Oasis and the Mirage; the Phantom that keeps the thirsty seeking along...

Relax Your Mind
Writer's block is a mindset,
a do or don't in your mind.
A thought that wonders to sound really good
until you hit rewind.
Being stressed could alter,
the way you think and how you make your words,
Being free and easy relaxes your thoughts,
and puts them so they can be heard.
I don't know why
one minute you can, the next minute you can't
But within the walls of your brains,
lives a story, a mystery, or a place to enchant.
Block
Your fingers hover above the keyboard;
Your hand grips the pen.
However, writing on a day like today is like driving a car with an empty gas tank: useless. Nothing will come of these efforts, you aren't going to get anywhere.
It's been like that for months now.
It is't that the ideas have stopped, no, they're still visiting at a steady flow.
During class yesterday you had the idea for a poem,
While you were in line at the cafe last week you had an excellent idea for a short story.
And yet here you are, an idea flying around your head with no way to get out. But when you get home and devote time to articulating all of these wonderful ideas you never seem to run out of.. Nothing.
Your head is a windowless and doorless room,
Your head is a labyrinth,
Your head is a black hole.
Writers block is wanting despritely to scream, to cry, to express, and having no voice to do so. It is staring at a blank page with a thousand different thoughts and feelings, clawing, tirelessly trying to rip the words from within, but coming up short. It is writing one sentence then erasing it because that wasn't what you wanted to say.
Writers block is a sickness that only a writer can catch, and the worst part about it is that it can last for weeks, months, even years, and until it's gone the writer will feel lost in the dark, with no voice. I can't think of anything worse than writers block.
