Hand shaky,

As I use my trusty quill...

Take a deep breath—

No need for any stress.

I fear that the ink is flaky,

Now I need to take a pill.

I write before my death—

I try not to make a mess.

To my loving wife,

Whom I have known...

All my life—

My love for her ever shown.

We have no strife,

But have always grown...

Like my playing of the fife—

Which I play in my gown.

Tears fall onto the letter,

I am afraid my time is over...

Maybe I will get better—

My Love for her will live- forever.

This heart

melts under the pressure

provided and given by your touch alone.

This heart

beats way faster,

even if it can hardly master the path

between

loving

and surviving,

like a crazy trapeze artist

balancing the adrenaline

on the thin rope of love.

This heart

is selfish

and needy

and even if it cares

it's still greedy,

When

a soul is starving,

the body craving

and the molecules

of our existence

raving on

for the things

that it cannot deliver.

This heart is greedy...

She wrapped his heart in yellowed paper,

quilted love cushioning his words,

crumbling promises tattered and worn.

Gray ashes left from uncontrolled passion,

once vibrant images buried in wet mud,

brackish tastes of all that ensued.

Tangled souls turned to stone -

scattered bones their only trophy.

Stars and moon turning their backs

on lingering fingerprints of love,

erased hopes and memories

through battled turbulent water.

Letters no longer keeping them warm,

love buried deeply beneath the ground.

Is the Love within the letter...?

or the letter in the hands of Love...

Before, or after mail?

(and how much did it weigh on the postal scale?)

Is the Love projected to the retina...

or does it radiate from there?

Is this Love indelible blood ink...

or just dried spit that the adhesive licked?

If Love was in the Thought then

what chance that it be in transit lost?

Maybe better send the Love certified...

but by what insurance could one swear

that the Love sent Twas the one delivered there?

Snail mail over email is preferred no doubt...

Perhaps it's best to just Post it hand to mouth
