My World
The world has changed a billion times
Some of us monitor this
Looking for patterns
They do exist
The Right is rising
Manipulated, as ever, by the rich
Thoughts controlled by
Paid for social, or anti-social media
Trump speaks his mind
It’s the mind of an ageing grandfather
That should be humoured but ignored
And he Tweets like an eight year old
And Brexit in the UK, right or wrong
Has given validation to attacks on the weak
Those in need
And those not born there
Bombed out of their homes by western weaponry
Then accused of ‘invading’ the west
With their ragged clothes
Tatty bags
And ‘look, he’s got a phone!’
Experts are shunned
Global warming?
It was freezing today
So that’s fake news
Arctic ice is always melting
Nobody notices this constant wind
Yet.
And we create poverty
On purpose
So we have victims to blame
For the lack of wealth,
Diverting our eyes from the wealthy
There’s no lack of wealth
They’re just robbing the poor
To give to the rich
And it can’t be stopped
And ‘the people’ are united
Behind unreality television
That keeps them busy
Diverting their attention
From the wealthy.
But my attention is not diverted
And my shackles are falling from me
Beware
For soon I will rise
And reclaim this world
And those who stood by and did nothing
Will be proclaimed as guilty
As those who planned to steal my planet
And I will show mercy to the meek
But unto others
I will do
As they did
This is my prophesy
And it is certain
This is my State of the World address
A warning
Heed my words
For the time is coming soon
When I will judge you
I come in peace
To the peaceful.
An Apathetic View
People have a lot of opinions on the state of the world. Some are positive, but most are bleak. I’m young, and I am aware that I do not know everything about the world. I have seen good, and I have seen bad. But I am only one person out of the 7.53 billion people who call this planet home. So I’m choosing to dwell on the facts, the few things I know about the world that are true.
Fact: The sea level has risen 7 inches since 1900. This is because our atmosphere is warming. As humans, it cannot be argued that we haven’t played a major role in this. But Earth has been through 5 ice ages. That’s 5 times this planet has been rapidly warmed and rapidly cooled. This phenomenon is not unique in and of itself.
Fact: Between 200 and 2,000 species go extinct every year. Once again, humans are indisputably a primary reason for this. But interestingly enough, we have been contributing to the extinction of animals since humans evolved. Did you know that scientists blame the human race for the extinction of wooly mammoths?
Fact: The sun won’t stop burning for at least 5 million years. If we survive for that long, we currently haven't even reach halfway mark.
Disagreement
No one agrees on the things that matter most, such as global warming, abortion, politics, gun control, and more. (There's always more.) Crime's rampant. Opinions are skewed. The media shows all that's bad, and rarely anything that's good.
The world lives in a state of chaos and disagreement, and it's only getting worse.
It was the Thinking that was Wrong, All Along...
I always thought the world would be reliably consistent during my lifetime. I mean, there have been changes, of course. Things that are considered positive, like new technology, cars, telephones, televisions, and home appliances. Things that make our lives easier. I've never worried about the things our collective awareness keeps throwing in the face of the public, between the sitcoms and reality shows. When each problem comes to the penultimate moment, it doesn’t take much to convince myself that it won’t affect me, that it won’t be a real problem until after I'm gone. But I've been wrong, as are all those who allow themselves to be seduced by the conveniences of technology, of money and an easy life.
We all go about our short, pointless existences, working our jobs, walking our dogs and driving our cars. Most of the people who are like me, whose world is small, including our home, our work and our friends, rarely look beyond it, and when we do, we think of it as something “outside”, as something that will never really affect us in our own little universe. Boy, are we wrong.
Bad People
If bad poeple ran the world I speculate that pain and sickness
would not only be acceptable, but also cheap and easily accessable.
Value would be a concept defined by our cars and wallets.
Instead of respect and wisdom. Whats right would be defined by whether or not it makes money.
The gifted and differently abled would feel as if they are better off dead, and to be a hypocrite would be the only way to get ahead.
If bad people ran the world, I suppose people of peace would be forced to kill or die. And people of war would control which laws we are to abide by. Magic would be considered false. and love would always be hiding.
Drugs and alcohol would be the best way to be socializing. and to save a couple of dollars would be worth more than a life. As for coping, well that would be accomplished by lying.
If bad people ran the world. Well, i guess there's no need to worry about that. Just stay positive.
Drink Deep...Drink Thoroughly (They Say)
What bonds the world to it’s brutal chain?...
...How does a baby bird lose her way, and
slip into a death-like state?...
Mother must have met a crisis to let
the poor dear succumb to such a fate!
I never knew how precious life could be,
’til I yanked the zipper of the centuries
to watch intestines tumble out like
the green lanolin of the lambs...
...this realization stained my hands.
Drink deep...Drink thoroughly they say...
...They want us all to chase the murk,
but keep the tainted clouds at bay...
Drink deep...Drink thoroughly they say...
...And as we suffer through their mirth,
Land-owners of our souls still play...
Drink deep.
How dare we exploit every sacred inch of land,
And still insist upon our jaded innocence?...
...We all deserve the golden calf,
Tho still the broken, winding path remains
with blood stains, and never-ended reprieves...
...I wouldn’t let my soul be seized,
When the deadly hand of agriculture fell...
Now savagely wounded by the knell
That summoned all the soon to be slain
To the garden’s ornate poison well.
Drink deep...Drink thoroughly they say...
...They want us all to chase the murk,
but keep the tainted clouds at bay...
Drink deep...Drink thoroughly they say...
...And as we suffer through their mirth,
Land-owners of our souls still play...
Drink deep.
