@undermeyou: you always spread love! And your writing is captivating, arresting. I always find myself inspired.
@harry_situation and @danceinsilence: thank you for challenging me. I find myself participating in nearly everything you prompt.
Also, as a side note, thanks as well @danceinsilence for making me interact. I’m a reserved one, and can be a bit of a lurker, but you chat so freely it’s often disarming.
@Mnezz, @demcmurphy, @thelonely: I appreciate your silent support! It makes my day to see your frequent reposts and love.
@elora_dennon, @MsH, @undermeyou, @treeless, @FKE_lostminds: thank you for your thoughtful and supportive comments! Receiving words for words is one of the greatest things.
I surely missed some, and I’m sorry if you slipped through the slats of my floorboard brain. I’m often quiet, nested in my own little corner of Prose, but I thought it important to recognize those who validate my efforts. And those whose efforts inspire me, bring me joy, and deserve some light.
Frame
My bed has strong arms.
It knows that my body
is heaviest at 6 a.m.
when the alarm sings,
turning my limbs to cinderblocks.
It knows that I am easy
to persuade, amenable,
the sheets whispering:
you feel best tangled up in me.
It knows that I can’t resist
such a commanding comfort,
telling me, always,
the day will only tire you.
It knows that my tired
is almost too leaden to bear,
a weight not carried
by bone or striated muscle.
It knows that I would stay,
sinking into metal springs
until my body
became the frame beneath me.
My bed has strong arms
that never hold me long enough.
