Squirrel
Started thinking about how hot it is right now for November, more like summer. Summer was fun this year, made better by spending it in the Florida Keys. Speaking of keys, where did I put them? On the table in the hallway? Yuck, the hallway table really needs to be dusted and cleaned. Cleaning is such a chore, along with laundry. The dryer has been acting up lately; should have someone look at it. I do need new glasses, looking at magazine articles is getting harder and blurrier. Speaking of blurrier, can't remember when I washed the windows last. Crap, still haven't fixed the broken window in the study. Fix dinner or study? There is always so much to do yet I never seem to get anything done and I can't figure out why.
Life is but a Poem
You say you don't like poetry.
I say that you know not of what you speak.
"Oh, it's true, so very, very true."
"But, you are immersed in poetry, my friend."
"How so?", you ask.
You, my dear, are a poet,
Your life but a poem,
Each day a new verse,
Each week a new stanza,
Building until your ode is complete,
And like snowflakes, no two are identical.
The end, not yet written, for it is yours to write.
Care to change your mind? Your path and lines? Your ode?
Do you still dislike poetry?
If so, how unfortunate.
I truly weep for you, my friend.
A Fresh Start
Every weekday, work, home, eat, sleep, repeat.
Every weekend, housework, sit around, binge eat, sleep, repeat.
Every Monday, wake up, start the cycle again, repeat.
Until......One day snapping out of it, stopping the hamster wheel, turning around, one last look, shutting the door and walking away with only a backpack.
Every new day, wake up, an adventure, smile, repeat.
The Good, the Bad and the Scary
Novelist extraordinaire,
Stephen, truly a King
To whom I bow,
Makes horror sing.
Of all that I have liked,
Only one rings true,
On both paper and film,
Applause is due.
Not Cujo,
While a compelling book,
Not done justice on the screen,
As horror it just didn’t hook.
Yet one has dug into my soul,
And gripped my heart,
On the edge of reality,
I will now impart.
The Dark Half,
Its human aspect quite chilling,
Struck several chords,
On both mediums, truly fulfilling.
Please Don’t Leave Me
The struggles are real,
I understand your pain,
Today is tough,
Today it hurts,
Today you feel so lost.
Yet you alone hold the key,
I can not unlock this door,
To see flowers where others see weeds,
To see the sun through the clouds,
To see hope, and to live and to breathe.
Wishing strongly that you would reconsider,
I am here for you always,
With a listening ear,
With a helping hand,
With a warm hug.
But, if you still decide to disembark,
I can not come with,
Left behind alone to mourn,
Left behind alone to face the days,
Left behind alone without my friend.
Finally, remember tomorrow is around the corner,
I know that all can change,
There are battles to be won,
There are experiences to be had,
There are those that truly love you.
PLEASE STAY.
