Anything Works
I have my phone on me while I'm out and about. It would be wise for me to use it for notes. But by the time I open it up I have forgotten what had crossed my mind to begin with. I usually carry around a pocket notebook for writing down pieces that sound good. I do not have a computers memory. I MUST write ideas down or else they are gone. A reminder for future work.
I have a typewriter. Though it broke in the process of moving. I haven't had the time or enough money to replace it. So it rest in my closet until I can do so. I have a tablet for when I am at home resting. I use a typewriting app, Hanx Writer. It works just as well as my real one, and even has a cute sound effect. Although it isn't the same feel and sound it will suffice.
I use it as a home for my writing pieces.
Honestly I don't mind what I write on as long as I'm able to write. I use them because they are there. Without them I'd be digging my nails into wood or chiseling stone. That would certainly be a game changer. A new meaning to turning blood into ink.
I enjoy writing on a computer because of the clickety-clack of the keys.
I enjoy writing on a mobile phone because it's so small--less room to make mistakes.
I enjoy writing in a notebook because it's so messy.
Yes, I do have a typewriter--my most prized possession. It's my absolute favorite way to write, it's so old-fashioned, and the letters look so awesome, and the sound is really cool--click clack DING! Ah, yes. Typewriter.
Right Write
I use only my phone to write to Prose.
I don't pre-plan or use any form of notes, it comes straight from my brain to the screen and that's how I like it.
It's perhaps not the best way to formulate ideas and plan out a piece but I love the rawness of it, it's sort of like pot cooking; whereby everything is thrown into a pot and cooked, haphazard and edgy, a bit like me I guess.
I don't own a laptop or fancy workstation, I have my trusty Oxford dictionary and Thesaurus and that is it. Bish Bosh.
Love it. Love you kittens too.
If I could write on a typewriter I would, I would do it everyday. In fact, in most of my novels that I've written my characters write on typewriters just because it's more fitting to their personalities and who they are. I love typewriters and if I could ever get my hands on one it wouldn't run and it would print so much of my work that I would just bask in joy and ambiance of the machine.
For now, I'm on my phone until I can get to my laptop later on tonight.
How I Create.
I write a lot of ways. Sometimes, I feel the need for pen and pad. Other times, I love my laptop.
I use my phone for ideas. Apps and such. A novel idea is a great app to map out scenes and things.
Mostly though, I use my laptop. It's easier for me because I can type fast and my brain moves at a quick pace. The downfall though, to me, is that I get the chance to read it while I'm writing and if I stop, I lose my place.
I've become an organized writer. I type out scenes, lines and sometimes paragraphs to keep my ideas from slipping away. It's easier on a computer than it is by hand. My brain moves too fast for my hands to follow.
Paths of Creating
I use multiple ways to write. I have my computer, where I use Wattpad and Microsoft Word to write my stories and novels. There is also my phone which I do use for most of my poems and quotes. Then pen and paper from everything from poems to novels to write on. And then my beloved typewriter that I write mainly stories and novels on. It's a GREAT writing tool to have that nothing can replace for me.
Hand Job (Tee-Hee!)
Ideally, I prefer to write everything by hand in a notebook and then type it up later. It keeps me focused (and from constantly checking Facebook) and that method allows me to do a quick edit as I transcribe it to my computer.
When I was a kid, I loved to type everything up at on typewriters. My grandmother had two in her basement and every year when I'd visit her, I'd spend half of my time down there typing up stories. My dad also had an electric typewriter (still does) that I typed stories on when I stayed at his house.
I like writing on paper and then typing it. Writing it out first feels more personal and then when I type it up later I can improve it. I typically just type on my laptop, but I've always wanted a typewriter. If I had a typewriter my laptop would have some competition because typewriters are just really cool.
By Hand.
I keep a notebook. I actually have two. Why? Because by hand, comes the heart. You must understand that from hands we as humans make very beautiful things; if used in the correct way. I absolutely love to keep a notebook, because all cherished memories of my old feelings are kept in paper. I can still smell the ink from the pen, and feel the paper in my fingertips. Keyboards and such is nice to keep because it’s smooth having to type away on a blank screen in front of an ethereal space. It’s nice isn’t it? But I love writing from my heart and that comes from my hand. By hand is the way I love to do it. Call me old school all you want. Hey, calluses and all, I’ll keep every notebook because that can’t be erased.
I usually write with my laptop, mostly, because the way I type is in tune with my flow of thoughts. However, sometimes I use Nuance's Dragon: Naturally Speaking software because I'm a truck driver, and I have nothing but time to think whilst going down the interstate. I only do this, though, when I'm pretty much alone on the interstate in the midwest.
