A gold chain necklace 

Was hanging on my mother's neck

At the shore

And at the deck

A gold chain necklace 

Was dragging my mother down 

With her earrings 

With her wedding gown

A gold chain necklace

Was sinking like an anchor to the sand

Not on her neck

But in his hand

Not everything that sits

Marinating in my belly

Is worthy of poetry;

But I need to write it

And it needs to be

Beautiful.

i watched

flowers bloom and wilt.

i watched

empires rise and fall.

i watched

people make mistakes

and learn from them.

i sat there watching, observing and taking careful notes.

but i forgot to live my life.

i never smelled the flowers.

i never traveled to different empires.

i never built relationships with people.

i sat there,

eager to learn,

scared of making mistakes,

building different theories,

but time passed by

and i didn't experience anything.

I shouldn't love you

As much as I do.

I shouldn't need you

Just to get through.

But I grow weary,

Too tired to be leery.

I know you hear me.

I like you near me.
