Victory?

Tate's capture of the Pirate was foiled by one of the flames Essie used to target their foe. Once enveloped by her scorching attack, he dropped the Pirate's swords. The ice that encased the Pirate swiftly melted, giving him the chance to grab his swords and face a burning Tate.

"It's strange. This doesn't hurt... at all."

"That would be Essie showing you mercy." The Pirate explained. "She has the ability to control the pain level of this spell. The spell can also be connected to Hugh's Reflection Dimension, and once the spell kills its victim, they don't actually die, but are safely transported to the Reflection Dimension. Since we are in a training simulation, you would simply be transferred back to the hub."

"I see. Well, tell Essie she got me good. See you on the flip side Mitch." Tate said with a grin before succumbing to the fire. As his ashes blended in with the sand, the Pirate breathed a sigh of relief that one of their opponents was confirmed to be defeated.

The Pirate ran to a tearful Essie and embraced her.

"Mitch.... we lost everyone. We defeated Tate and Wasila, but Rick... Cerissa... Janet...."

"And that's why we're doing this Essie. Thanks to this being a training world, everyone is just fine, even our opponents. We did this so we can improve in fighting together. We will keep training for the real battles, and when those come, we won't lose anyone."

"Thank you Mitch, I'm looking forward to doing my part to grow." Essie said as she smiled sweetly. "Let's head back now. I can't wait to see Ric.... er, everyone!"

"You'll go back soon, but not on your terms."

The Pirate and Essie watched in horror as Wasila emerged from the flames that had previously captured her. Not a single singe mark was on her.

"That would have finished me off just like it took out Tate, had I not absorbed Rick and Janet's healing grenades earlier." Wasila grinned. "And you should also know about my magic absorbing ability by now. So guess what happens next!"
