Guess who’s coming to dinner?
A knock at the door. I get up from the table, a table for one.
"Coming," I call.
Another knock, I don't recall inviting anyone today. Or any day for that matter.
"Yeah, yeah," I say, opening the door. Death's here, his scythe touches the top of my door post. I stand there with my hands on my hips.
"I've come for your soul today, Ethan," He says. I could've sworn that under that shady part of his face he was grinning. I'm not. Before closing the door on him I say:
"Where were you when I called for you?"
play and tell
Playing with black things
that you know you shouldn't have,
because mommy told you.
Selling lips
at a second- hand shop
and pulling it off your face like a tattoo,
pulling it with your skin.
If only things were that
temporary,
that removable
because I would give my life
to peel a few things off,
a few rash decisions
from the surface of my skin
and fling them into the blue
of an undiscovered sky.
Hi
Hello! I'm Brittney. I am married & a Mom of 3 boys. I homeschool and sell crafts and stuff on etsy. I love coffee, books, & video games. I am currently working on a sci-fi novel called "Aurora". If you like female main characters/hero's, outerspace, the apocalypse, and extraterrestrials you will like my book. I also write poetry.
I'm happy to be here & to have found Prose! :)
Drug of choice
She'd wake me
In the morning
To remind me I was alive
She'd disappear
Beneath cotton
So many threads
I'd forgotten to count
The softness of her hands
In rhythm between breaths
Keeping time
L ove
S educes
D eath
I could've died then
And there
She always made me weak
Too weak to pretend
We were someone else
Too weak to dare to dream
Outside my own reality
An addict to her lips
Her voice
You never understand your drug
Fully
Yet it knows you from the inside out
M orning

M ourning
A ddiction
its never not known
its never not felt
the need and passion
of that human vest and zeal
the night time is cliche
so lets do it in the day
set the scene and cast
the prefect guy at last
tall light and handsome
eye sparkle in the sun
his presence alone excites me
his prefect body is all I see
and then we go out on a date
oh yes I know its running late
lets just go to my place together
I need to pick a thing or two for the rainy weather
we're here now...
I know we shouldn't be here now
not just the two of us
not here with all this rush
we'ill just go to sleep
we'ill just... go to sleep...
we'ill just... go...
we'ill...
DEAD DESIRES OF A WEARY LOVER
His love for her never could suffice
her desires were mountains he hardly could climb
his pleasures and hers were the east and the west
her urge for freedom he barely could trust
the goals that they set were mists at dawn
the only peace found was found in the comfort of their union
along come others, younger and stronger and prettier and smarter
they serve as links to a dying reality.
their love ,a timer, only seconds till destruction
Mark these words as I paint the scenes
their love was a wonder yet what happend
we all wonder....
