Wandering at the Edge of Life
Whet thy whistle and cherish
life is like soft peaks
swinging from frayed ropes
dangling from hot tin roofs
tapping wild bare feet
Whet thy whistle and savor
horses trotting on old brick roads
black eyed sunflowers bending
spirits hiding in gray mist
rushing wind on blushed ears
Whet thy whistle and witness
feverish tracks of strewn rocks
fingers rustling on silken grass
fingernail moons and froggy leaps
sun dances in waving winds
Whet thy whistle and listen
warm breeze piping
wetness whispers of wind
waving palms mid azure skies
thousand of tales murmuring
WANDER AT THE EDGE OF LIFE WITH EARTH AT YOUR FEET
The Far Side of the Moon
Life is like the far side of the moon:
unseen and uncharted, but always there
shrouded in darkness, yet waiting for discovery
unpredictable, yet destined to follow certain rules
caught in perpetual orbit, but never fully in view
cold and mysterious, but once unveiled,
will forever alter one's perspective.
The narrowing nature of life.
The young are brimming full of potential
but as we grow we sacrifice for the actual roles are defined as you slowly become
a student, a worker,
a lover, a mom
and as you slot into
your well-chosen path
it narrows and bends
until finally at last
choices are slim
potential is gone
but be thankful
you chose something
before you had none
cos life is like
a narrowing road
where choices
and potential
slowly
erode...
The Modern Odessey
Life is like the whirlpools we learned about in school. I remember my eyes being wide as we heard how Charybdis sucked up Odysseus and his crew. I was intrigued by anything adventurous at that point. Columbus, Marco Polo, Tarzan, Mowgli... I wanted to go on adventures, travel the world, fight for honor and love and respect. Unfortunately, that was well before my time. The Greeks homoerotic, "anything goes" society was crushed under the muddy boots of the Christians. The explorers that fascinated me as a child were exposed as racist, sexist, greedy assholes when I was in seventh grade. Those books I'd read were all written by racists as propaganda to support the unwanted entry and "cleansing" of lands like India and Africa in the name of Christ. Everything I've learned in school is now crumbling and dirty, and I feel like all my childhood dreams are drowning.
LIFE IS...
Free, full of laughter & running through fields trying to catch the lighting bugs as we’re children flowing with innocence.
Soon we become a mess of hormones and emotions, trying to understand why Boy said “No” as we stand alone watching him walk away.
Next thing we know off to collage we go, hopefully becoming the doctor we always wanted to be.
All a sudden price charming gallops along sweeping us off our feet, hypnotizing with his song.
He fills our hearts and ears with lies, all of which we believe due to our deep naiveness.
So, one more time here I go, life is full of bullshit either direction you go.
