Ignorance is bliss
Slipping into the silence
she gazes on
taping her eyes open
to witness her world
c r u m b l e
so she can feel the pain
feel the agony of all she has done
and feel their cries as she cowers in her dark dark darker corner.
Her eyes burn
forced open to the toxic air
forced to sting like bleach eating away to her brain
forced to feel like dirty claws gripping at her tender flesh because she is dirty
she is nothing but a monster with so much blood on her hands.
The tears try and form but shy away
afraid of being consumed by the void around her,
so her eyes dry out like her will to fight.
but it's too much for her
too much to see
too much to bare
too much too much too much
so she blinks
and just like that the tears wash away the sheen of negativity
and allow her to see the beauty
of a lovers smile
and a mother's embrace
to see that their pain is not all they are
to see and not to see.
To know it's okay
to take a break from a one-sided reality.
a pause in the spotlight
constantly gazed upon, studied, analyzed.
sometimes hiding can mean the world,
even if only for a fraction of a second.
a cloak of darkness,
a bit of silence.
then back to shining,
light weaving its way through the sky,
waiting for another moment
of peace to arrive.
even those who burn bright
can still break.
Diamond Bracelets
flashes and flickers
of endless stars
shimmering, blinking
mounting heavens
illuminating wanderers below
traveling desolate paths
boundless, endless, infinite
blue cold winks
diamond bracelets
forming reveries
on moonlit floors
shining primal radiance
in silver choruses
of voice lanterns
dreams floating
beyond our world
lighting a sky
full of fleeting wishes.
It is more of a wink, really
If you are paying attention,
you’ll see it
on crystal clear nights
when the moon is dim
and the joke is on us,
looking up,
when we ought
to be looking in.
They know
what we don’t,
the truth
we leave hidden
in morning bustle,
in afternoon hustle.
They know,
so they wink,
and they hope,
one day,
someday,
we remember.
wink
stars stare
down at you,
clamoring, burning
for your attention,
your admiration,
your praise.
we stare back,
watching and wondering
how they hold their shining eyes open
for all eternity.
but when we look away,
that's when the stars blink,,
finally breaking their facade
of unblinking watchfulness.
they stare and
we take their sight as caring.
so they keep staring
telling us they care
but even stars need to blink sometimes.
and they blink when we look away,
finally able to pause their empathy
and replace it
with apathy
just for a moment.
Just resting my eyes
Motherhood is a gift
I remember praying
With all that was within me
For just one that I could love
Looking to the heavens
Making wishes on shooting stars
There were so many
but for so long
Not one was mine
Motherhood is a gift
I remember praying
With all that was within me
That he’d make it
Wishing on the first star
The path was a tricky one
But certainly worth traversing
He was born imperfect
But perfect for me
Motherhood is a gift
I remember praying
With all that was within me
That I’d be a good mother
Seeking constellations
meant just for him
Harnessing energy
Strong enough to
Illuminate his way
Motherhood is a gift
I remember praying
With all that was within me
That I could shine long enough
for him to find his own light
Fighting the gravitational pulls
Working against me
But even stars grow weary
Before they burn out
A twinkle in your eye
Such beautiful life-
So much ‘magic’ & opulent existing
In a world most will never see...
It makes me think of us
Of you
Of me
How does this flat earth turn?
Why do the stars blink?
What won’t Meatloaf do for love?
Honey, what do you think-
In the slow pace of life these days, when your mind goes to ponder?
... it was quiet; then with a deep breath-
She responded...
I have no craving for that life or what it brings;
Flat earth?
You have got to be kidding me
Google that Meatloaf question, bringing that up deserves a laugh
Stars blink for the same reason we all do- because they are humans, mostly
You should know that, dumb-ass.
