Power Play

Essie pointed at Wasila, and a green laser shot out of her finger. The blast went through the two laser swords that Wasila was holding, then travelled through the Pirate's laser sword, finally absorbing into his standard blade. His normal sword transformed into a laser sword, and his sword that was already a laser sword lit up even brighter.

"I used a spell that copied Wasila's weapons, and gave your blades the same power temporarily." Essie said weakly, while still smiling sweetly. "That's all I have left. Good luck Pir-"

The Pirate ran to Essie and caught her before she fell into the sand. He tenderly laid his unconscious ally gently onto her back.

"Thank you Essie, for everything." The Pirate said kindly. "You can rely on me.... I'll stop her for all of us, all thanks to your gift."

"Don't make promises you can't keep Pirate." Wasila said half mockingly and half seriously. "You've lost almost all of your crew in this simulation, and you are the only one left that can fight. Even with Essie's powerup, can she truly rely on you?"

"Maybe I am in over my head, and maybe I will ultimately fail." The Pirate grinned. "But that doesn't mean that I won't do all I can to turn this around. Besides, your man Tate is out of the game too. Let's finish this Wasila, you and me. Right here, right now!"

The Pirate charged at Wasila, and the pair clashed their laser swords. The Pirate's swordsmanship experience gave him the advantage, leaving Wasila on the defensive for the first time since the simulation began. One of the Pirate's strikes was so fierce that it sent one of Wasila's swords flying out of her hand, sinking out of reach into the ocean. Before the Pirate could attack again, Wasila lept back and sent multiple lasers flying out of her remaining sword at him. The Pirate deflected the blasts, then countered with a swaggerish smile.

"You won't defeat me with one sword Wasila. Stand down and admit that you have finally met your match with my blades and Essie's magic."

"You may be right Pirate, I can't stand up to you much longer." Wasila smirked. "But Essie is taking a nice nap over there. You may be able to deflect the laser blasts from my weapon, but can she?"
